Not dead, just a reflection IMO of Amsterdam. There is little to add on earlier posts. I go there regularly: the RLD is a rip-off, prives are hit & miss and would be written about in that section. Nothing new happening. I'm going in a couple of days and may try a new (for me) Prive, but Amsterdam is not so hot anymore. A short train ride to Alkmaar, Hague etc gets better value.
