Indeed, Lisbon and Athens can be similar in some aspects, especially what you highlighted (sightseeing, nice beaches reachable with public transport). I found Athens cheaper for accommodation, especially because of the great and affordable Airbnb offer. When it comes to the escort scene, Athens is actually not bad. There might be a slight decrease but not really significantly.
