Here is a report from london99 concerning unfulfilled desires this sunday night past in Lisbon. Having worked all weekend :-( and missed out on the beach and other delights (including no beer), desided to repair to Birro Alto, watch some football, get some beer and some food. Having watched 30mins of Porto followed by 45 minutes of Sporting Lisbon (both dull) I departed for food.

Highlight of the night, Va E Volte Resturante (Rua Diano de Noticies) Bife Lombo and damn good half bottle of red.

Taxi to Marquis de Pombal, for gentle walk up the street we know so well. Gallery club was shut at 11:30pm (no loss by recent reports). Night and day was open but 35 euros admission ! with 2 drinks, no way,little wavering up the street but decided noway. Evening was going to be a little entertainment, but again who knows ... ?
Briefly considered EB but again on recent reports the hill was un appealing never mind the clubs.

So where is any quality in Lisbon ? Londonman has been through the Poco and to the clubs with no success. I like the clubs and a line up. Can Night&Day justify charging 10 euro entrance extra on a Sunday compared to Friday?

"Poço" refers to the name of a street of downtown Lisbon. You'll get the exact location entering "Poço do Borratem Lisboa" in the Google Maps search box.

There are no strip clubs there. Only 2 or 3 downscale cheap brothels in the vicinity.

Prostitution in Portugal is not illegal, but also is not regulated in any way. A police officer is always present in that small street, but does not interfere with the girls business. Occasionally the police raids that street (and others) and take a few girls (illegal immigrants) for identification inside the nearby police station. A few hours past, they are working again. As long as you don't perform sex in public you should be ok on that matter...

I was in Gallery as well on Friday. I certainly did not pay any entrance fee to get in. Was dressed casually, jeans and polo shirt. Strange!? Anyhow, you did not miss much. But I did pay the same 25€ as you in N&D including 2 beers.

Did you check out the gogo dancers in front Hawai and Seven Seas in Docas? Quite hot!

Here are a few general remarks about my recent experiences in LIS. Details of some encounters are posted below.

Poço: an interesting experience, but I would not repeat. It's just too dirtyfor me and the girls are 4 or 5s at best (see photgallery)

Intendante: during the day I only saw a few grannies and and drug crazed junkies. There a plenty of mean looking African dealers around. Did a quick walktrough and left on the next Metro. I can only imagine how this place must look and feel after dark.

Clubs: went to EB, Gallery and Night & Day. EB was a joke, in the others I saw one a very few acceptable looking ones. Drinks are quite expensive, around 10 € for a draft beer.

Strip Clubs: went to Phocus, in front of the Holiday Inn and to Passerelle. Both clubs were extremly busy with guys (40+50) but only about 8 girls each. No real stunners either.

My conclusion is that LIS is a great city for tourism and that you can have good encounters there, but it is not, inho, a prime mongering destination.

FKKs in Germany or clubs in Spain are cheaper and the girls of a much higher level. If you like Brazilians better fly to Brazil. LIS is nice if you wanna try to cross some more exotic flags off your map like Guinee, Cabo Vede or Angola.
