Having said that I wouldn’t go back to Wayang because I wouldn’t have the money, it took me only three weeks to break the vow. The first time, I did the Thai massage (one hour on a tatami) and was entertained by Ana – a soft, tender, Portuguese girl loved by everybody. She’s pretty in an unassuming way; not a knock-out. Muri's information is that the Poço is essentially unchanged: well, not quite unchanged, for apparently the entrance and staircase up to the pensão have undergone a much-neeeded refurbishment.

Otherwise, faces come and faces go, but the Poço's tradition, dating back more than a thousand years, is unbroken. Any time between mid day and 9pm, you may try your luck.

If you arrive and find the place deserted apart from some elderly locals, do not despair, this only means that the Romanian babes and the cops are having one of their little games of cat-and-mouse at the taxpayer's expense. Wait for twenty minutes or so for the police to go for a smoke and a coffee, and you'll see the girls drifting back to action stations.

Be sure to report back: Mur is living Lisbon vicariously just now, but other mongers need up to date information.

Longing for the real thing, I found a lighter, older version of Tânia. Thays Monteiro is a dark mulatta from Brazil in her late twenties. Her ancestry is probably more of an Angolan extraction than from the heart of darkness. She’s pretty, tall and very elegant; only drawback, for me, are the silicone tits. Besides, she’s probably the most easygoing, nice-talking lady I ever met in this trade. Absolutely nothing to do with most of the Brazilian girls you find in Portal Privado. And polite, too.

Downtown Lisbon you may find several hotels within walking distance from Poço.
The nearest - perhaps too near... - is Hotel Lisboa Tejo, 20 meters from the entrance to the pensão where the romanians take their "sponsors". Another 100 meters you have Hotel Mundial (good restaurant with a fine view). Go to google maps and look for hotels around "Praça da Figueira".

It’s been two months since I’ve last seen Diana. She sure was thin by then – too skinny for my taste: very small breasts, a bit of a child’s body. No signs of needles, of course. The place seems to be a franchise of a Spanish brand. It is really very comfortable and well decorated – even the music is in fact relaxing. The moment you walk in the door, you feel transported to a different world. I enjoyed the Thai massage (140€), by a pretty Portuguese girl called Ana. I spent two hours there, if you include a shower before and another one afterwards. It did make me feel good on a bad day. And yes, you’re naked during the massage (the masseuse wears only panties), and yes, she gives you the most fantastic handjob in the end.

It is expensive, tourist-geared. I see it as a one-time experience, and I am recommending it to friends, but not planning to go back myself.

1) be warned, it's not cheap: the sensuous massages go from 80 € up to 220€ (see the site menu);

As soon as you choose the massage (not the masseuse), the actual priestess that will be celebrating the joys of your flesh arrives (in a black blouse and sarong), offers you a fruit juice and leads you into the heavenly dungeon.

4) You walk down the stairs, undress, she offers you a set of sealed towels and a sarong and leads you to the bathroom where you find a generous choice of shampoos.
