Indeed, Lisbon and Athens can be similar in some aspects, especially what you highlighted (sightseeing, nice beaches reachable with public transport). I found Athens cheaper for accommodation, especially because of the great and affordable Airbnb offer. When it comes to the escort scene, Athens is actually not bad. There might be a slight decrease but not really significantly. And maybe not even that, due to the fact that the big tourist boom that Portugal has been enjoying for quite some years now makes them realize that the incoming tourists (like you!) are also a very rewarding target.
