I often visit Bucharest, and although I had got hold of some contact numbers in the past, I had never arranged to meet with an escort.

This time I did.

I have been checking out a number of sites www.fetite.net, www.intimclub.net, www.potfiata.com, and emailing a few girls that interested me. I can also read a little bit of Romanian, so I get a sense of what is being said in their reviews.

I had narrowed down my choice to three girls: one with incredible legs, one really tall girl, and one who seemed to have a really good attitude. From the other comments here I figured attitude was most important so I went with girl 3.

A few days before I went to Ro, I gave her a call and told her what I was looking for (and how I wanted her to dress). We agreed a price €100 for 3 hours, full service - although she has an hourly rate, she only meets foreigners for a minimum of 2 hours and does not visit hotels.

When I arrived in Bucharest she had sent a text asking to postpone our meeting for a day. Although I had some doubts, I agreed.

The next day I give her a call, and we agree an hour to meet. She arrived very promptly, was dressed almost as I had requested, but her attitude was great. I was fairly relaxed about the amount of sex, but she was rampant, also very creative. Also because I did not take the anal option, she reduced the price a bit when she left.

Great girl, great attitude, very reasonable ratesm and good english. There are still some good ones out there. She is quite selective about the clients she takes I think, but she is easy to find on www.fetite.net. She has permed red hair in her pictures.

Again back from BUC. I would not recomind Planters as a the best place to pick up a girl, at least during the week. I was and all I could see is a normal pub with more or less normal girls. Some of them, the minority, with pimp so I would refuse ( if possible ).

I would appreciate people that know BUC quite well will post which are the best places for non-pros ( avoiding places with pimps or/and boyfriends. Maybe I have to revise my opinions about planters a bit. For sure majority of the girls in this crowded place are taken ( I mean boyfriend is there too) or snobbish. But every evening I made a nice new contact leading to more dates if I wanted.

I have been living in Romania for three months now and can vouch for the fact the Viking's comments are 100% accuarate.

It seems that the people who find problems are those who don't try to understand the country, and who treat the girls as a 'takeaway'

I repeat my advice: get out of the centre of Bucuresti, TALK to people ( I speak broken Romanian, but almost every body has some English if they are young, and French if they are older) and treat the girls nicely and as people!

It's not a meat market and consumer attitudes to girls deserve the rip-offs.

I have had some very good experiences with 'amateurs' in the country and smaller cities, never paying more than 60 euros...what they call here 'two million', and usually as little as 10 or 15 euros, but I also take them out for a meal or buy some clothes or make up. This is not a 'scam'! It's what these girls are doing this for. They would use the money for this anyway, if not to eat or buy some cigarettes. Remember they have almost no safety net of social benefits.

One note on Romanian money: the currency is Ron, but people still speak in old lei; so 'one million' is 100 ron: about 30 euros or 20 GBP.

Prices are still very cheap with a beer at between 2 ron for a draught beer to 5 for a bottle of Stella, and that is bar prices. If you go to the supermarkets like Billa or Kaufland you can stock up food and drink for a week for 3 people for 200 ron, say 60 euros. I know I do it every week.

just returned from bucharest trip and i must say i do not get along with that city. it was my second visit and again i was quite disappointed with the attitude of the girls.

thanks to this forum i spent the first evening mongering between the hotel intercontinental and the mcdonalds/kfc. indeed there were lots of sw and pimps (and couples of which i had hard time to identify whether the girl was for takeaway as well).

i was immediately approached by 2 pimps (which gave me their business cards) but i wanted to spend more time watching the scene. so after a first walk all the way up, i spent about 45 min sitting at the tarrace of mcdonalds to watch the scene.

there were quite a few girls coming / going. some of them where entering a taxi/car just to return a few minute later. also there were lots of young men (pimps?) which where approached from time to time by some girls. it was quite obvious that the knew each other.

anyway i was not completely sure how the whole thing works and whether i should approach one of the combination (young man/young girls). i was really surprised that there were a lot of them in that area, so i asume all the girls were professionals.

what confused me most was that there was a constant coming / going of girsl in cars. i asume that the pimps that give you your business cards just collect the girls from the streets to send them over to your hotel.

it was quite obvious for me that in that area this is a huge business. to my surprise not too many gypsies were present, however i would give the advise to avoid them anyway.

i observed another scene where an ambulance car was parked around the corner and a lot of girls where around that car. all of them were lining up for some shot (medicine), so i asume that this was a kind of a charity thing from the red cross. however it convinced me not to take sw with m that night.

because of my confusion i returned to my hotel (golden tulip, just around the corner of mcdonalds) and back to my room i decided to call one of the agencies in the english tourist magazines. i described the girl i was looking for ([CodeWord901], english spoken, slim). the agency told me no problem, she will be there in 20 min. 2h for eur 150.

the girls arrived after about 30 min. to be honest i was positvely surprised. excellent english, sexy body, nice face. however she immedeatly asked for additional eur 50 as bribe for the reception and the police she had to pay. well, i payed as i expected a nice evening with an excellent looking girl. her attitude was not bad, howeevr quite professional.

i offered her some drink from the minibar and she selected red bull with chevas regal. after a few minutes we went for a shower together, when she found some parfume in my bathroom and immediately wanted it as a present. well. then we had some nice sex + massage in the bed, but she was constantly dealing with one of her 4(!) phones. actually she acted as an agency for other girls and was quite busy (even during the action).

she really had a beautiful body, but her customer orientation was bad. so we played around for quite a while and as she did not do cim/cif she was ok to come on her (really exciting) behind.

after we were done (total of 90 minutes) she said that she had to leave now. well i was quite disappointed, but did not intervene because she was too professional for me anyway. however she even dared to ask for another 50 leu for the taxi. that indeed was too much for me and i sent her home without any extra tip.

conclusion: even though this girl (laura) was really beautiful, well educated and spoke excellent english, her attitude was below my standard. if i book a girl for eur 150 i expect that everything is included. that is normally how it works in every country (even in russia). i had a simelar impression on my first visit about a year ago (see my report then)

in bucharest things seem to be very different. i am not too keen to give it a third try.

I was 2-3 night in Bucharest also very near Intercontinental almost each night. But i was so un lucky i suppose that. I could not find any one. At last the hotel reception guy offer us but the price really very high such a city like that and 100 € / hr. This made me very upset.

But THERE WAS NO SHOT NO DEAD.

Bucharest is not cheap city ( may be we do not know enough.)

I strongly suggest Thailand. Or Plan your trips very well.

Andy Cap and Oetziboy, you both got it all wrong! The girl is not asking for a GSM card, she already has one (the one she will call from) and neither is she asking you to set up a subscription for her.

What she is really asking for is a valid code from a rechargable phone card, in Romanian a "cartela de reincarcare", the ones where you buy any given amount of credit from one to a hundred dollars and then enter the code and recharge your phone with talk time.

As Vlad2005 correctly says, it's a very common and well-known scam. During my time in Romania I regularely recieved messages from girls on dating sites asking me to send them a rechargable code if I wanted to get in touch with them. Some girls even write it in their profile description.

The unknown number stuff is crap. If she just wants to talk to you she can call from any public phone. And think about it, why would you even consider getting involved with a girl who is not willing to spend a few cents to hear your voice? And even though Romania is still a relatively poor country, mind you we are no longer in 1992! Anyone can afford the cheapest phone card!

In case you go through with it and send her a code, do send her the lowest amount available instead of trying to impress her/him with a large amount. I mention this only because guys not thinking with the head between their shoulders tend to ignore even the most obvious signs of a scam because they so much want their fantasy and illusion be true.

I also think I must mention that what Oetziboy writes about having to present a passport and/or ID when buying a GSM card is true only if you want a subscription (abonament). In the case of a pre-paid card (pre-platit) no papers are necessary.

Have a nice trip to Romania, but when dealing with this type of girls do be careful and don't forget your street smarts. Romania is a wonderful, peaceful and non-violent country but still one of the top capitols of scam.

I couldn't say for sure this is a scam, but it has all the hallmarks of one. A few times I have had something like this sent to me (actually always in Romanian, but I can figure out theme of what is being said). I always abandon at this point.

Bamboo is one of the "hot" exclusive clubs of Bucharest. It attracts the better off and as with all such clubs you will get girls looking to meet rich guys. Many of the women will have a real attitude problem - especially towards foreign visitors. I dont think it is a place to pick up working girls especially - although there will be some - but there are a lot of good looking girls there. If you can convince them you are a frequent visitor and willing to spend money on them while you are in the country, then you might find an occasional girlfriend.

It would probably help to be reasonably good looking, well dressed etc - someone a girl could be proud to be seen with.
