I never understood properly the matter of EU. For things to do outside chasing girls, undoubtely Bucarest. Bucarest has nearby the mountains (Brasov) , the sea (Mamaia, Costinesti, ect) , great historic towns to visit (Sibiu, Sighisoara, ect) , and the Danube Delta if you are interested in eco-tourism.
