I agree with you on the selection of cities, but I would add Iasi to it, the second biggest unive4rsity town, and the town with the smallest foreign population of them all.....where a foreigner has more exotic value.......and the women from Constanta are quite adventurous, too.

If you go into the non-universitiy towns like Bacau, you must completely change your spiel! Forget about diskos, cafes and the usual stuff. Instead go to the open markets and try to chat up poor proletarians. Believe me, they are not prude, they fall even faster than students.....alos I like the undereducated class, they are very often stunningly pretty and have hard rock bodies, so I can do without philosophical discussions for a while (no time for that anyway...)

You can win the jackpot in such a town, if you can locate a matrimonial agency. Bacau has it, and Constanta too. The girls that seek the services of such an agency are all looking to get out of the country by marriage. So this means you will date 2-3 women a day, all very eager to know (and to please) you. It is definetely worth the $100-200 that the agency will charge you )Of course you tell them you are looking for marriage!). But you have to stay at least 2 weeks in the respective town to take full oportunity of it!

I would skip Bacau. This is dull factory city. Cluj or Timisoara would be much better bets for mongering, as they are full of students.

I never have much luck in little cities like Bacau:

1. Discos

These totally suck. Nasty, musty, converted movie theatres. All the women go with uneducated, frustrated, and aggressive boyfriends/guy friends. If you try to talk to the girls, these guys get pissy. All the people know each other from town/childhood. They stare at you and are not friendly. It's always a trial to get a number, let alone score, in a romanian provincial disco.

Especially if you are alone--they look at you like you are some preditory creature (which I am )

2. The towns

These towns are dead, depressing, concrete block shitholes.
There is nothing to do/no places to go, thus you can't meet girls on the street or in coffee shops, etc...

3. The Women

The women you meet in these places are the ones not smart enough to get into good universities. I find that uneducated women are much less likely to put out than those who have been to uni.

All the interesting, cute ones who like to fuck have moved on to Bucharest.


That being said, the strip joints always seem to be better in these places as they are cheaper and the women seem more enthusiastic for some reason.

If I were coming on a 10 day trip to Romania I would do this:

1. Bucharest. Set up as many dates on internet as possible. When meeting, always say you only have 1 hour in case it sucks. If you happen to get a nice one, extend the date and blow off the others for that day.

If all the dates suck, get a newspaper and find a pro in the classifieds. Or, go to Planters or Quando and find expensive (100$) pro. Don't expect good service after you hand over the cash.

2. Overnite train to Timisoara

Same as 1. Set up dates on net. If they suck, have adventure finding a pro.

3. Overnite train to Cluj (same as above, internet dates, fallback pro)

4. Maybe hit Brasov on the way back to bucharest from Cluj as it is on the same route IF YOU DONT HAVE LUCK IN CLUJ.

These are the only cities worth seeing in Romania on a short mongering trip, in my opinion: Bucharest, Timisoara, and Cluj.

Is it better to travel by train, or by Taxi? Which is cheaper? I was told Taxi is faster.

I am definitely looking for true stunners, but I do not want to pay more than 50-100 USD.

Romania is a cultural shock if you're coming from USA for the first time: no efficiency, no squeaky clean toilets, no credit card for everything ... but on the other side you'll find big hearthed people, smiling faces and something like a "wild west" to explore and the feeling that everything could happen, even speaking of *****mongering.

But I have to make a clear statement:

Romania isn't everywhere near to S. Domingo or Thailand when it comes to sex. You'll not find girls is the street begging for a fuck like the above destinations. So keep a low profile and don't flash your bucks.

I haven't travelled extensivelly in the above area, but those are my 2 cents:

- Be careful with young males fluent in foreing languages that approach you, expecially in the tourist places, offering services: 99% they are scam artist. Try to approach ordinary people for everything, and you'll not disappointed.

- I have never been to Bacau, but I'm pretty confident that this town doesn't deserve a trip in an already compressed vacation like yours. Beautifull girls are everywhere, and I have found that train conversations are a good pickup situation, for example.

Bucarest --> Sinaia --> Brasov --> Sighisoara make much more sense IMHO. You'll see four of the much beautifull city in this country, and they are on the same road.

Sinaia is something like a romanian Aspen, but if you're not into hiking or outdoor activities you can drop this city.

A couple of hours with a R-E-A-L stunner coming from a nightclub I think could be in the 50-100 $ area (maybe more in Bucarest and less in Bacau), and as a general rule don't fall in the "all night" scheme: you don't need and 8 hour ride, and chances are she'll disappear after one or two hours pretending you haven't understood the rules or because her mother is in the hospital and need her urgently or another BS like this.

- Visa/Mastercard are welcomed in big and pricey hotels or restaurants, but never travel without plenty of cash. Cash rules (EURO and USD are fine) in this country.

- Speaking of prices, I think it's up to you. You can travel/sleep/eat with less then 20$/day if you don't mind to sleep/eat/travel like a rumanian, but if you really want to splurge you need almost the same amount of $ that you need in US to splurge!
Decent hotels runs for 20-30$/day (but no cable TV or some other amenities :-), decent restaurants are 10-20$ for a good lunch with wine included. But it's easy to double or halves those amount, if you're in the mood of splurging or spare.

I'm sorry, but on Cluj you'll have to do the exploring on your own. I've been there three times on very short trips, and on my three evenings out didn't find anything worthwile (but then again, I didn't look to hard either). The only thing I remember was a night bar with the usual price quote of $100 for some hours, and this always makes me laugh....usually the I fool around a abit with the girls, but leave alone, always funny to see how they try their best to change the odds.......

So I hope I'll learn the ins and outs of Cluj from you next week. Have fun!

your info cames to late unfortunately. I'm now in Cluj and stay in a Hotel near Melody Hotel. It's very cheap less than 20 $, but very clean, with two beds and of course a shower. Same standard like other Hotels I saw which charge much more.
One interesting story I have to tell about Iasi, yesterday after I have written the email, I was tired like hell, also my train to cluj goes today 5.15 in the morning that means I have to stand up at 4.30 o'clock. I went back to the Hotel and on the way from the loppy to the stairs one man stopped me and offered me girls. I ask him about the price he told 50 $ for the night. I thought maybe a short number before I go sleep will be not too bad and so I try to bargain. I told him 30 $ will be OK. But he insists 50 $. I told him for that money she has to look very good otherwise we would not come to business. He said that he will send the woman to my room. So I went to room had a shower and prepare to go sleep. Suddenly it knocks on the door it was the man with a girl. She was maybe a 6 tall, skinny and young and she looked very shy and like a bloody amateur. I told the man that she is too skinny and not my type. I gave him 50.000 Lei for the taxi and went to bed. After half an hour it was knocking again, at the door was a other man with a other woman. Take a taxi. Tell him to go to Drumul Buciumului. First go to the 'pasarela care face legatura dintre CUG si Cetatuia', you'll find some there. Then go see also 'drumul spre Poieni. There are some more on the Nicolae Iorga street....and after midnight some appear in front of the railway station (Gara), too

Mostly you will find young, cheap gypsy hoockers who work in shacks with absolutely no conditions, and have a lot of clients/day. Some of them can perform great blowjobs, though!

I've been in Brasov this week for business. This is a very beautiful and quiet city, with moutain landscapes.

I don't know about the street action, but I've been into two strip clubs : Salsa and Insomnia (I've been there by cab and they never asked me more money or tried to get a bonus from the club so I think it won't cost more by getting there by cab).

Salsa : about 10 girls, ranking 5 to 8. I stayed 4 hours, buying drinks to girls in a private room (they do lap dance and you can fondle, touch and kiss them as you like). It costed me about $240 for 4 hours with two girls. I did not fuck them (I had to pay $100 more for both but I was not in the mood).

Then I wanted to visit another club : Insomnia. It's very nice, with very beautiful girls. Prices are about the same. As it was very late (5am, almost closure), I asked the manager for a girl "to go". It costed me $70 and 10 min later the girl was here in a cab. I was a little suspicious because I paid the guy before and gave nothing to the girl but there was no problem. The girl did not escaped or asked for more money. She was very nice and passionate (deep french kissing). She wanted to stay with me longer but I had a plane to catch so I called a cab for her.

I know I payed a lot but I have money and I so I don't care. A friend told me you could have gipsy girls for 5$. But I'm not sure I want to try

If you are looking for a club to have a drink and dance on house music, go to Avant Garde. This is very nice, and the DJ pumps good music (nice local girls too, some of them works in strip clubs and are here to heat the place).

Another thing : if you are a good looking foreigner with romance abilities, you won't have any problem to find a girlfriend !!! Just talk to girls in the streets (many of them are stunning), act like a lost tourist looking for something, and invite them to have a drink. It's very easy !

Here is another story from Oradea
I staid in a very cheap hotel for backpackers (350000 lei for the night). Room without breakfast or tv (but who watches tv in Ro - I know better things to do :-)
In front off the hotel several ho, between 20 - 30, no babes but just cute. When I arrived with my motorbike dirty and sweatty one off the girls, Veronica, already proposed to wash me :-)

I took my private time to wash and eat outside, but in the evening I met Veronica again. She proposed 1 hour - 30 Euro. You are right Joe but I tried several taxidrivers and they all did if there nose bleed. But I rembered the magic word someone said here: bitches.
