I just want to say thanks. As a newbie to international vocation, I have visited many, many forums on this site, and I must say this one is the best. I will be moving to Moscow soon for at least a two year stint. Reading through the posts of the likes of Ben, Prosal, and Stravinsky have been informative, but especially well-written and entertaining. Thanks, gentlemen!

Here's the thing. If you have to ask, forget it. Because what ever the cost is, ITS WORTH IT. For an old dog like me, there's simply no option available to score talent at this level, so whatever I contribute financially to the Institute Scholarship Fund for wayward Hotel Managers in training, the point is, that its simply not measureable in dollars and scents. And I do mean, smell my finger, because the fragrance is something like honeysuckle rose.

Let me put it this way. Don't go buy a new beamer, because your old one will run just fine up to 200, 000 miles. Instead, go to your bank and order a stack of crisp new Benjamins, stick that ten large in your pocket, and turn that fat green bulge into a purple one. You won't regret it. Don't listen to the nay-sayers, they're just lazy. Sure the plane fare isn't cheap, but get a credit card and start racking up miles. Yes, a nice apartment isn't cheap either, but its not like Moscow! Its virtually impossible to spend it all, so you'll come back with some left over. Has anyone else noticed, however the southern and eastern regions of the Ukraine seem to be the most fertile hunting grounds for the middle aged western man seeking young, desperate beauties. Those areas also have been hardest hit in the recent economic downturns, and have high levels of infant mortality, abortion, drug abuse, alcoholism and aids.

They are also full of middle aged western men seeking young, desperate beauties. Best to skate to where the puck isn't.

The. Fake and cheap gets you nowhere in FSU. It's a turn-off for 99% of the girls. They love to dress up to the tens, and anything less than a similarly well-appointed guy is not a guy worth fucking. Especially if you're a foreigner. A guy coming from the West and not dressed with style and refinement will be immediatly and irremediably categorized as a total loser. Many mongers travelling to FSU don't really realize it, but that's how is women's mentality in this part of the world.

Style and clothes are more important than looks in this part of the world. Looks help of course, but it really isn't a central theme with Russian girls.

Russian girls are undoubtedly some of the most fashion-conscious women on earth and are VERY good at gauging what you wear. And anything less than a stylish and well-groomed guy is not a guy worth fucking.

nice try, but [CodeWord901] is definitely not russian literature. just because something is written by a russian, doesn't make it russian literature. most russians have never heard of the expat writers like nabokov.

right. most russians don't even know shit about an author like vassili axionov (one of my fav russian writer) , who leaved russia for the us in the mid-80s, and wrote "generations of winter" (in russian "moskovskaya saga" or "a moscow saga") , imho one of the most ambitious and captivating novel in russian literature history (many critics have praised it as a new doctor zhivago large-scale russian novel). nonetheless a tv-serie, basied on the novel, has been adapted on russian television.

I get the impression, however perhaps I am misunderstanding, that being cultured, educated etc sort of a professor type (I don't want to give any identifying information, however I am an academic) would be a big hit with the young sexy kittens in Odessa or Kharkov.
