Oh, man. What a pity. Your experience does not encourage me to keep my traveling plans. My local source (who lives in Piter) didn't inform me about police crakdowns recently, old school chains like FrauM, Modeli and Pride are still active, like they have been for years. Actually the prices are up if we are talking RUB. In St. Petersburg the average would be around 6000 Rub and up nowadays. IMHO it's a misconception to think that a large part of the upper class Russians have migrated. In Russia local riches are still getting richer and while the economy is still stable despite sanctions (as opposed to for example Germany which is officially in recession and the US which almost went default), the market is slowly growing. Yes many Russians migrated, but it was in all classes of the society, specially the lower class who used the chance of the momentum to say "-Hey Western country, here I am, a political refugee, give me some refugee status, financial help etc. !" who definitively will not work as a WG, on the contrary. Now if he / she was really opposing the government, it's another question, well it's her / his right, but he / she maybe understood the heat of the moment is now to fulfill that old dream (of migration to the West, which dates back some years). Opportunistic chess players, possible, but I don't blame them. Everyone has the right to achieve his goals in life. Good luck to them.
