Generally, I absolutely agree with the recent posts. Dressing well will do a lot to making a good first impression, and most often that is the only chance you will get. If you know girls through other means, like work for example, and you see them more often, you’ll have more opportunity to show them your other qualities and fashion sense takes a less-important role, to the point of being label-obsessed being a negative (girlish) quality.

Girls are girls however, and your people skills… especially communication etc., become more important and more decisive depending on how much time you’ll have to speak and communicate with them. Dressing well and the initial impression it makes might just buy you that precious time you need.

I operate at a certain disadvantage because I am name-brand averse.
My suits are all made by a quality Montreal bespoke tailor and none of my clothing bears any recognizable international brand, except of course my watch, which is a rugged rather than prestigious brand.

I can buy a branded shirt or two if it will make an impression.

+1. Slavic girls are undoubtedly some of the most fashion-conscious women on earth and are VERY good at gauging what you wear. Fake and cheap gets you nowhere. It's a turn-off for 99% of the girls. They love to dress to the tens, and anything less than a equally well-groomed guy is not a guy worth fucking. Especially if you're a foreigner. A guy coming from the West and not dressed with style and class will be immediatly and irremediably categorized as a total loser. Many mongers travelling to FSU don't really realize it, but that's how is women's mentality in this part of the world.

Personally in EE/FSU I dress in upper-quality and non-monogrammed (being classy but non ostentatious is an important point IMO, and anyway looong gone are the days when Russian girls were impressed by monogrammed clothes) Zegna, P.Zileri or Boss casual line clothing. Shoes are also overly important, and in that respect nothing can beat a pair of Santoni or Berluti.

I was in Moscow last summer and visited the sports wear place in Chisti Prudy (forget the name). They had a lot of "Bogner" clothing on sale so I bought navy polo shirt at 70% off. I wore it out that night with a tired (but clean and pressed) pair of jeans and boat shoes (with no socks) and got hit on and smiled at continually. It couldn't have been the jeans, it wasn't the shoes, and it CERTAINLY wasn't my boyish good looks (or lack thereof ). St.Petersburg in the winter months is quite affordable. In the summer however the accomadation prices are quite high.

Generally speaking it is a bit cheaper than Moscow, including paid sex.

Provinces (and that means any city besides Moscow or Petes) have some advantages, but be prepared for the following:

1) you must entertain yourself. Most weekdays are rather dead, everything concentrates on the weekends.

2) P4P can be very well hidden and basically you will have trouble finding it unless you speak Russian or are a courageous body language speaker, meaning you have a thick skin and good people skills.

IMHO, the freebie scene here in Moscow is still damn good, particularly if you speak no Russian. Kiev, Minsk and the provinces are better in terms of desperation factor, but on the other hand, there aren't as many fluent English speakers out there either. In Moscow you can find cultured, intelligent and good looking young women who not only speak English, but are looking for opportunities to practice it (and other things, if you catch my drift).

Of course you need some game, and need to scale your expectations with what you see in the mirror. I've found I always kill 'em if I'm wearing one of my best Italian suits -- so dress the part, be confident and don't be afraid to grab some ass (and I mean that in the most literal way).

UFA!!!! ....... Just kidding. Ufa is great but not exactly cheap. Although Lukasek had some great luck about a year ago. Suggest you look at some of his posts. He spent about a month in Russia on a budget and didn't go to Moscow. Of course, the problem is that once you leave the big cities, there are a lot few people who speak English so you have to be prepared for fending for yourself. But once you get out into the provinces prices for everything come way down.

My recommendation to anyone here is not to visit Fantasys. I check all their girls before making the final selection. The verdict is that they are not that pretty for the most part and those who are act as unfriendly as it gets. Plus, this place is now really overpriced at 4500 rubles/hour.

Sorry you had a bad time. I feel somewhat responsible, but on the other hand, it's not that I gave false info. 90% of the time I go to these salons, I do have a good time. Though I concur with many of your comments:
1) 4500 an hour is very steep. What you're paying for isn't necessarily the girl. It's also the location, the newly remodeled interior, the discretion, the marketing...
2) many of the girls there have been around the block a few (dozen) times. Not all, but many.
3) all of my favorites have left within the past few months: Nastya and Tanya at Fantasy's, Natasha and Masha at Charmel

Here's my critical analysis, for what it's worth:
a) if they only had 3 girls available, then you went at a bad time and should have turned tail then. To compare, there are usually 10 girls waiting when I visit, and at least half are smiling, if not being downright flirtatious
b) follow your initial instincts. If you feel there's no chemistry, then you're almost certainly right. Head for the door or request another girl.
c) though I've seen her a few times, I've never had Oksana. Reviews on her are actually fairly decent, though, and she is genuinely cute. Which leads to my final point:
d) YMMV. Wh0res are human, after all. And just like us, they have good days and bad days. Even a 3 star French restaurant can serve up mediocre food now and then, and with something as subjective and personal as sex, there's no way any establishment can satisfy all desires.
