I think it's a mix of the crisis and the fact that more hotels are finally coming online. For example, the old "Gostinitsa Ukraina" just reopened after a couple years or more of remodelling. It's now the Radisson Royal, complete with its own river boats which cruise year-round. And then there's the new Renaissance on Leningradka. And there are a lot more in the works, so hopefully this is a trend which won't reverse when we eventually pull out of this economic slump.

Do hotels in Russia finally understood that negotiation was part of the deal, or is it a consequence of the krisis ? (or a mix of both maybe)

Grimly negotiated with Korston Hotel and got a VERY good rate (long stay) at 4000 rub taxes and bkft included for a Comfort Room. That is indeed a GREAT rate for Moscow.

Noticed that Penthouse Club and its more legitimate business sibling Prime 21 Steakhouse seem to be operational. I'm a bit leary of any sex-oriented business on a major street (NF anyone?), but curious nonetheless. Anyone been there yet? What's the format, prices, level of service, etc?

Yes, summers are slim pickings indeed - and not just in Moscow but in any major city in summer. Steamy, sweaty, stinky... Remember that the government cycles off people's hot water for 3 weeks at a time and some neglect to bathe at all during that period. The only good news is that the exodus means that you can use city streets to get from point A to point B again due to fewer cars. Oh, and the lack of clothing on the tanned deffki who just returned from Bali, Mavriki or Maldives.
God, how I wish we had a wiki here. Then we could have nice, easy-to-navigate and up-to-date sections for p4p and freebies and subsections for salons, tochki, strip clubs, mamba, regular clubs, etc...
I haven't been out for a while due to ridiculous amounts of work, but on my last visits, Coyote Ugly was hopping with young co-eds, and Parizhskaya Zhizn (where Doc and I ran into Passepartout by complete chance while quaffing our draft Guinnesses) was bouncing with desperate, drunk 30-somethings looking for some relief - any relief - from their dreary single-mom, secretarial existences. That was a little too much reality show for yours truly... but unfortunately Che was even worse (at least what I remember of it). I had to call in a girl to join us at 4am, as the talent there was so bad, some of the guys were starting to look do-able in comparison.
As for HD and NF being marked "to be avoided", it really depends on your MO. If hooker bars are your thing, there are regrettably no other options. But I do end up at HD more often than I like to admit, particularly after a disappointing night out on the town.
Guys -- any other new clubs worth talking about?

Posts: 1178Hi. I am fascinated about Siberian towns, but Russia is too big to be visited!
My first Slavic woman (the best) is an Ukrainian with family origin in Naberezhnye Chelny. I met another cat's eyed woman, in Moscow, from Tomsk, and wow!
Kurenda, in your opinion, what is the best town where to find tall, slim, cat's eyed women?
And about Tyumen, why did German and Polish go there?

Moscow Masters group, I have a request and questions to you all, perhaps you can help me out.
It's been nearly 5 years since my last venture to Moscow and I am sure things have changed a LOT!! Plus my absolute non use of my limited Russian in the meanwhile, plus my old friend California Traveler (CT) no longer being resident in Moscow, means I might as well consider myself a newbie.
I'll be coming to Moscow early part of July for a couple of weeks, when I hear the streets and the talent desert Moscow for their annual rest or return home from school or out to the dachas. Is this a lost cause?
I recall way back then, there was some guy, who hired himself out as a driver and wingman of sorts to hit the nightspots and even do some translating, is such a person still available? Or are any of you masters in town to possibly help out an former Moscow monger?
I assume that Moscow-Star (CT used to manage it himself, I hear Rick is the manager now) is still a good apartment rental outift, so that's what I'll probably use again.
And I hear that the places to haunt are now Coyote Ugly,Che, Aurora 911, and Bardo. And Hot Dog, formerly the BoarHouse/Chesterfields is to be avoided, along with NF and that the Safari Lounge is no longer in business.
Any advice from the Moscow Masters is much appreciated.

PPt,
Слава Бога! (praise God) It's good to see that someone in Moscow is having a good time. And for free, no less.
Keep us updated.

Some friends went there recently, all of them scored, i mean spent a whole night with a freebie met in clubs. Desesparation factor at its best! Not far from Moscow.

I am also told that behind the hotel across the street is an Irish Pub and next door to that is another disco whose name I have forgotten.
Because my time was so short it was all business with little time for play. However, I was watching and noting the movement of the babes and I must say I was impressed. the guys I was with were "curious" and waved a few girls over to chat about he weather although none were making a move to "contract their services". And while they were not quite at Moscow standards, they were all well dressed, groomed and mannered. Good bodies, nice teeth and hair. I would have screwed anyone of about a dozen we say that night. Thee were some semi-pros that came around that they regular girls objected to. It was hilarious watching them try to pressure the young security guy to throw them out. As the security guy would escort them to the door, one of us would go up and rescue them telling the security dude that she was with us. This went on for about an hour when the regular girls came over and asked us what the fuck we thought were were doing? In hindsight I suppose it was all a bit sophomoric but were were toasted on Vodka and beer.
Clearly, we had upset the natural order of things and offended them. We made amends with drinks and I wished to heck I had not been with colleagues and was catching the 6:00 AM flight otherwise I would have sampled the local talents.
Anyhow - there it is. Tyumen in 25 hours and 20 minutes. Will I return - absolutely!!!!!!!
Oh!!! I almost forgot, these girls were asking $120 ST and $200 all night. Not cheap but a damn sight cheaper than Moscow and we were probably at the Tyumen equivalent of Night Flight.

Posts: 260I read the following post by prosal and I have 2 questions, stupid as they may seem : this is referring to try to pick up girls for free, right?
The other question is : is it worth it to go to Russia for 2 weeks and try to pick up girls off the street or in clubs ? Can someone who speaks Russian and has money expect to have some success?
