I forgot to mention, that one of my business hosts brought me to the City Space Bar in the top of the Swissotel. The Russian Orthodox church never adopted the Gregorian calendar, they are still on the Julian calendar, so Christmas and New Year in Russia are off by a couple weeks.

The Soviet government did adopt the Gregorian calendar, so New Year is celebrated on January 1st, along with the rest of the world. This is followed by the "old" Christmas on the 7th and the "old" New Year on the 14th. The 24th and 25th of December are pretty much like the 4th of July in London.

There is never a time when Moscow is a "ghost town", any more than New York, or London or Paris could be ghost towns. There are millions of people who live in Moscow and they aren't going anywhere, at least not in the dead of winter. It may be that many of the dyeffki you are hoping to meet, who moved to Moscow from the provinces for the specific purpose of fleecing the gringos, will return to Yaroslavl, or Ivanovo or Goose Khrystal to celebrate with their families.

There is an extended holiday period in early January, I believe it's about 2 weeks. But this is primarily for government offices; the Post Office will close during this time. But private businesses should still be operating.

So, as long as you don't need to mail a letter, you should be fine.

After the Night Flight fiasco, decided to try a strip club the next free night and it was great. At least 50 women, all of them 7 to 9. 75 (to me 10 is perfection and there is no such thing in real life!

About a quarter of the women are waitresses, who will do lap dances if you want, but I don't think they will go into a room with you, the rest will. Private lap dance is 2000 rubles, going into a room for an hour will cost 10,000 rubles for the girl and 5000 rubles for the room rental. I took Illyara, a gorgeous blonde with spectacular breasts.
