Seems a nice boutique hotel, a bit overpriced, yet surely a bit negotiable (got a rate at 4000 rubles net at Korston BTW, as it is ranked at 230us$++ in your site)

I personally had not experience with this place after renovation, but I heard that it depends on the shift. Sometimes they don't pay attention, but sometimes stop and ask questions. Especially on the way back. And they may ask passport scan. Same as before.

I envy you, living in Moscow. You can just drop in anytime you feel like it. It's true, you never know what you might find in HD and it's a real luxury to be able to check it out and leave if there is nothing interesting, knowing that you can check again tomorrow, or next week.

I think you pay for it one way or the other anyway, be it financially or emotionally. Freebies aren't necessarily free...
