Beg to differ... With the Rossiya closed, I doubt you will find a "low" season in Moscow for the next few years. I know I tried to get a deal on an apartment for the NYE weekend and my old place was totally booked and he laughed at me when I wanted a place someplace else. In fact, I imagine that you will soon see another round of price increases.

Even Sveta is now renting her own set of apartments, which I am very pleased about.

If I may, one questions about saunas (Banyas).

Last time I was in Moscow I searched one out. Unfortunarely I didn't write down the name but it was about two Metro stops out past Hotel Sretenskaya.
It actually took me two trips to find it using some directions from the web. It was in an apartment building, at the back and in the basement. I don't know what I was expecting but there was no neon sign saying "Banya - Girls". So it took some work.

This particular one had no group of girls waiting for me to select from. But somehow I communicaterd my angst and the management put me on the phone with some guy who spoke English and was willing to have one sent over for $200.

At that point I decided that if I was to pay that amount I would rather make my own choice so I exited and went to NF where I had made a good choice for that amount the night before.

From some recent communications it sounds like there may be saunas and there are saunas.

Are there some saunas where you can choose from a selection of girls already there or is the approach to arrange a girl from the internet or at CF, PJ, NF etc and meet her there or take her there?

Erotic-massage.ru was described as a salon, which sounds to be different from a sauna with girls ready to meet you!

I may try to search this one out this trip with the directions given by others.

The best way would be to ask a russian colleague for help but I'm not that willing yet to be that open with this group. So...

That is low season, during the Russian holidays between New Year and Russian Christmas on Jan 7. The prices are at their lowest during this time because there are virtually no business travelers and the hotels are fairly empty.

Katerina looks nice on the web but 4000 rub? Must have been low, low season.

I just called Katerina for Jan 15 -19 and they quoted me 11,000 as their best rate.

Maybe they were full and that we a suite, and all that was left.

Currently I am in Moscow. I will be here till Saturday night (14/1). Last Saturday night (7/1) and Monday night were awesome at CF.

Saturday night; I made 30.000Rubles at CF and spent all of it at Mister XXX.

Il Patio at Atrium opposite of CF at Kurskaya has best thin and crispy pizzas.

Sun Light at Nowy Arbat(New Arbat) is a quality joint; we smoked kalyan/hokka (red wine with apple flavored 1600Rb; cognac with apple flavored 1800Rb) Lots of babes stopped by for a coffee or to smoke kalyan.

Café House at Tverskaya next to NF is one of the must see place around midnight. Lots of NF girls stopped by before or after their shifts…

I will write detailed reports in couples of days. I also found some great restaurants and places.

They also do your registration on the spot.

I just wanna highlight the general ones, but of course there are lots of such hustles and incidents that can only be happened in Moscow.

*In fancy restaurants they have the English menus but almost none of the waitresses speak English.

*You have been coming to Moscow almost very month in last 2 years; but still you wait too long for security check.

*You rented a car with driver to take you to 40 min drive from Moscow; after 6 hours long meeting you found the driver drunk and felt a sleep at your car. You called the dispatcher (suppose to understand English) to send you a new car; she insisted on talking with the drunk driver who was sleeping at that moment.

*You ordered Bacardi lime in a popular bar but they don’t have ice. But at the same time they prepared frozen margarita.

Things to do in Moscow...

Did you leave out these highlights? What happened to?

1. Having several bystanders in the underground watch unimpressed
as you get the shit kicked out of you by muggers in the middle of

2. Getting fleeced for $100 at AK-47 point by the police courtesy
of the mamachka you just paid $200 for simply trying to drive her

Its very easy to get a sim card, there are mobile phone shops on nearly every street corner. Some providers require your registration, others dont. I think it also depends on the shop. However zou can always get a sim card without any registration or hassle from some providers, for example Megafon. The bigger shops almost always have at least one dorky looking kid who speaks English.

Its cheap... something like $10 to get the card and then you have to buy the prepaid cards which are usually 100, 300 or 500 rubles. It will make your local calls much much much cheaper. I consider it a must.
