Interesting. I have had many conversations with Russians, here in the USA and also in Russia, but have never encountered this particular type of reaction. And my Russian is most certainly laughable. But then, I have always valued pronunciation over grammar and strive to make what little Russian I speak sound "just like a Russian".

Is it possible that this is some new trend in Russian society? A kind of phonological jingoism born of rising nationalism in Russia? My experience has been that most people in the world, not only Russia, are so amazed to meet an American who speaks any language other Than English that it becomes an almost endearing quality. No matter how simple or poor is the expression. The only exception to that rule would be the French-one bobbled vowel, one missed apostrophe and they look at you as if you had just insulted the memory of their dead grandmother.

My advice would be, don't try to show how cool you are by using the translator on your phone, learn some Russian and speak directly to the girl. Whether she laughs with you, or at you, what's the diff? They will always appreciate the effort and you at least have her attention and remember, a pie in the face comes with the job.

Learning Russian? Forget it, unless your living / working in Russia. Russians HATE foreign accents. You want to be the butt of jokes? Learn a little Russian and try and pass yourself off as learning the language. Your girl and her friend are laughing hysterically? They are laughing at you and the way you try and speak Russian.

Yummy, I wonder if it's just the FKK's you frequent? I am by no means an expert having only visited Palace FKK in Frankfurt a handful of times. But each time I went there were plenty of Russians (naturally) , some Ukrainians, a Hungarian, a Colombian (if you can believe it) some Poles and a girl from Egypt. But I sure do not remember any Romanians. Maybe they just don't like Palace FKK?

Actually I should adjust my numbers some. All of the big clubs do have a handful of Asian, African, and Latina girls. I generally stay away from them in FKKs because if I want one of them I go to their home countries. A Filipino is much better in the Philippines than she is in an FKK.

Hmmm, I have not been to Palace since 2005 but it had plenty of Romanians then (but perhaps a better mix). In the last 4 years I have been to big clubs like Oase, Artamis, Sakura, and many other smaller clubs and I stand by my estimated 80%+. In fact, I have been to clubs like Heaven and Tantra which are 100% Romanian. It is almost a joke when I ask them where they are from and then I clarify I mean which city.

In Sakura, to suggest diversity, girls that are Romanian will often say they are something else. A girl called Diana said she was Spanish because she lived there 3 years, Same with a girl 'from' Italy, and this girl that had a Hungarian father said she was Hungarian, although when you get to know them a little you discover they are actually all from Romania. This beautiful girl from Turkey left Sakura after a couple of weeks because she had no girls to talk to.

Jake, what you say is surprising to me, but I have no doubt that you spoke to Russian and Ukrainian girls in Palace. They are probably drawn to you like a magnet. A hushed murmur spreads through the club 'This American guy can speak Russian! ' I would think it would almost be a thrill for them. Or maybe our eye gets drawn to what we like so we talk to the girls we are interested in and you like the look of the northern-Slavic girls so you get lucky.

Visiting St Pb again, although visiting Moscow for a few days in May. Taking the fast train - meeting with a girl in Moscow I already have a "relationship" with (she's from Yaroslavl). She actually likes Moscow. While I am not technically paying her for sex I am paying, slowly, meeting by meeting, to renovate her apartment. This meeting it's the tile in her bathroom. Mamba is still, albeit with some work, useful. Check out other dating sites too. Do the leg work. Prep work is critical to success in Russia, unless your living / working in Russia. For "cheap" you need to go to Asia. As far as I know that is the only place left where a casual monger can go with a budget.

Responding to various points made by others recently:

- I was in Ukraine earlier this year (Kiev and Crimea). I had some constraints, but managed to slip away for mongering about 5 nights and 2-3 days. Historically I have found Ukrainian women very beautiful, perhaps more beautiful than Russian women. The relatively large difference in income should make the Ukrainian women more available. But I struggled and I found that prices were not all that low. Perhaps it was for lack of time to work things out.

- I was in FKK Palace in Frankfurt earlier this year. It was crawling with Romanians, as were the other places I visited in the area. I found them very beautiful, but the sex variable. That may also be because the efficiency and mass nature of the FKK experience in itself is not conducive to GFE.

- I am certainly no expert on Romanian women. But one way I think about it as you move from Russia, to Ukraine, to Moldova / Romania is that you are gradually going south. You are getting more south European flavor (which some might think of as "Latin") , both in looks and in terms of behavior. In terms of looks that is not bad and Ukrainian and Romanian women are probably some of the most beautiful in the world, corresponding to international cultural ideals which are based on average European looks, where Ukraine and Romania has similarities with the same latitude in Western Europe (although it also means that the looks start declining if you move even further south (to Greece / Turkey and onwards). In terms of behavior, you are gradually getting more coquette, slightly more hard to get, slightly more passionate girls. Of course both Russia and Ukraine are all mixed up, so there are lots of exceptions to these generalizations, but if you meet 1000 Russian women. 1000 Ukrainian women and 1000 Romanian women I think you are going to start seeing the tendency. I am not quite there yet, but working on it

- In my list of points about the decline of Russia as a mongering destination a while back, I forgot to mention one important indicator: the rise of African and Central Asian girls in many salons. If there were millions of long-legged, blond (isn) , firm-bodied Slavic beauties knocking down the doors there would not be space for the other nationalities. The other nationalities are often presented as exotic alternatives included for variety, but in fact (I think) they are filling a vacuum.

- I agree with YummyPL. From a cynical (Russian-speaking) mongering perspective it is better if Ukraine is kept out of the EU. I think that is mirrored in the quality of postings on the ISG threads for the two destination. But personally I really enjoy sex with South East Asian women as I feel they are more submissive and (even) more feminine than the devushkas.

I have already turn back from Cologne and have regrets that I didn't visit Palace. I had drived to FRA on my first day.

BTW I think it's another reason that the Romanian girls are incredibly hot, nose up and flirtitous to be the majority in FKK's.

My point was that it is strange to me that FKKs literally have about 80-90% Romanian girls with much less representation from places like Hungary and Poland.

I think it's a simple matter of access. Romania is a member of the EU, so it should be very easy for them to travel (and work) within the EU. Ukraine is not a member of the EU, so it's more difficult for Ukrainians to travel, and work, in Europe, although they can and do.
