Instead, one of the bartenders at Hot Dog's has volunteered to drive us out to Zelyonograd. His sister and some of her podrugi have gone in on an apartment together and I guess he wants to keep the business in the family, knowwhatImean?
If you want, we could hit the Yolki-Palki first, for dinner, before we head out for a wild evening of debauchery in Zelyonograd.
Whaddaya think?

You are a true expert.
Spossibo bolshoi for that longish explanation.
Some last question:
The girls of course know what they are up to?
Any ideas about typical going rates / hour?
Cheers.

For all practical purposes, Tochkas in Moscow are a thing of the past. VVP is cleaning thing up for the Olympics and World Cup and Tochkas are not considered socially acceptable anymore. I have heard that they still DO exist on the out skirts of town and in more seedy areas, but I certainly would not waste my time. Any that still DO exist are crap quality and more of a novelty. Again, don't waste your time unless you want to do it for nostalgic purposes.
The sauna is simple. Call one that is convenient location and price wise and book a time. Once you get there, you simply give the attendant a sheepish grin and ask "mozhna devishki?" (girls are possible?) and he will grin back and ask how many you would like. Generally they will call a few down so that you can choose. BUT. If you are by yourself it can get expensive. You are renting the banya by the hour and it may take 30-40 minutes for the girls to arrive so plan for it accordingly. The sauna can provide beer, vodka and snacks if you ask (piva, vodka, zakuski) but it's cheaper to bring your own. The more high end places will actually cater full meals like shashlik and other dishes but that can get expensive in a hurry.
Payment varies. Some girls prefer that you pay the attendant so he can take his cut and others will prefer that you pay them directly so that they will take care of the banya master themselves. He gets a fee for calling the girls (sort of like the way a taxi driver in the USA gets a cut for arranging a hookup with a pro). Either way, don't worry. They will let you know.
As far as protcol goes, you DO need to call and reserve. Very few will let you just walk in although it does happen. Most places have two or three banyas. Each banya will have a sauna, some sort of shower, a toilet (separate room) a place to eat and drink (picnic table) with music and TV (perhaps karaoke) and a RELAX room with a bed. Keep in mind that when you rent the banya you rent the whole ensemble on a private basis so watch your time. It's easy to let 3 or 4 hours slip by if you are not careful. Typically the banya will provide minimal towels (palatensa) and flip flops (tapochki) and often will give you what looks like a bed sheet. I have never been able to figure this out but I gather that it serves the purpose of a BIG towel for the more shy members of your group. Once you are in, then you can pretty much do what you want. General protocol for the banya is varied. Most Russians will wear a towel while eating and drinking but sit naked on the towel in the banya. Of course you drop the towel for the shower and plunge pool or swimming pool. Any girls you bring in will follow that protocol to begin with unless they know you. Expect them to wear a towel in the banya until they get comfortable with you. And don't be shy about being a little playful by ACCIDENTALLY allowing their towel to come undone. It's all part of the game. And don't be shy about inviting girls to come join you for banya. You would be surprised at how ready they might be to come join you. A lot of foreigners will wear bathing suits in the banya, which is quite silly in my mind but hey, what ever makes you happy.
Enjoy.
Jake.
NOTE: with the cheaper places, they don't mind if you bring in your own drinks and food which is MUCH more economical. The more expensive and classy places will want you to buy EVERYTHING from them so prepare yourself accordingly.

Fellow mongerers,
I will finally be coming back to Moscow later this week. This time I would like to prepare my visit a bit and I have 2 questions to discuss:
1) Tochkas
Is the tochka scene still as active as it has been some years ago?
If so, what are the current price levels?
I remember it used to be somewhat between RUB 4000. 9000 for a night.
There was a famous one very close to the Olympic Sports Complex from 1980.
My russian language skills are still basic, but I will manage.
2) Saunas
I do know where to find them (http://www.sauna.ru/)
But I do not know how to behave there. My russian is not good enough to ask. :-)
What are the rules for relaxing, drinks, food and other stuff?
When you order girls, how do you pay them? Directly?
All comments welcome.
Cheers.

Other places to go for party: Rolling stone bar Thursday to Saturday night. Paradise and also Gipsy are in the same street, same days as well. Go with good clothes, they apply face control. In these 3 places I've meet several Russian ladies.
Oblaka, Pacha are good and very expensive clubs.
Propaganda is also a good place if you like house music.
A nice bar is coyote ugly, I went there but was Tuesday, was almost empty, I had to go to Bordo after this.
Have luck there!
