Well, technically it's possible for them to find out if somebody is using vpn. But why should the Russian police do it on a foreigner? Except of course if he is a suspect (of crime, espionage, etc.).

The problem is IMO not the 5000 rub, the problem is the "administrative offense" generated by this crime. If you are here just a tourist or temporally business traveller here, it's not a big deal for you. But if you live here (like me and other few in this forum) on a Patent, RVP or VNZh well this could be the beginning of the end of your stay in Russia. Because according to the law, after 2 "administrative offenses" the MVD has the right to kick you out of the country or, if you are already out of the country, they can ban you of reentering the RF. Administrative offenses include exceeding the speed limit, being late on registrations / notifications, among others.

But again, if you are a nobody like me, I guess they don't really care what you do online in your private time at home. I think, no I HOPE they have better things to do.

Look for VPN that works or a server / provider for browsers like Tor to work. Forget about fines. The severity of laws in that country has always been mitigated by people not following the laws. You can also use proxies and have copies of the whole sites downloaded in advance of your travel. Most of the folks on the ground will take it as a personal challenge to help you to get access to restricted content.

Takes time / money. Honestly go to the strip bars at night, use the agency's during the day, but you will need to be specific with your requirements. Good luck.

1. Taxi any where in the center $4-8.

2. Apartment per night in the center $35-59.

3. Dinner very reasonable.

My Plan of attack - 5 nights Marriott Novy Arbat.

We are quite similar. I'm in my early 20's and am not too ugly. But since you wrote that most girls at Penthouse were at least cute or attractive, I think I probably have higher standards than yours. Most of girls there were unattractive to me with few exceptions. I would suggest you call some escorts from websites if you still have time and budget left. There are some real hidden gems among those escorts, by which I mean 8's and above, not the 6's at the strip clubs. You have to expect some level of bait & switch though.

By real gems I'm talking about 9's and 10's. Yes, if a lady charges you 400 usd / hour, it's almost certain that you would get at least a 7 or 8 coming to your door, and you would not need to worry about be&S as much (though it still could happen sometimes). However, IMO within this price range (3000 usd +), in most cases a 8. 5 would be the best you can get. If you want a 9 or 10, I would suggest you try the 100-200 usd girls. Yes you would expect more fake profiles and have to prepare for unattractive or old ladies showing at your door, but there are a lot of beautiful girls in their 20's within this price range.
