Decided to go to Egoiste (formerly apparently known as Hungry Duck). This is a table dance club. Central round stage of 2/3 m surrounded by some sofas. The entrance is 1000 Rubels. The girls will come to your table and will give you a brief lapdance, which would then make 500 rubels each time. Once they have the money they stop dancing and go to the next one. Can get quite expensive, if you do not find a way to send the girls away. Egoiste has real stunnres.

The thing about the market in Moscow, or most anywhere else in eastern Europe, is that it is not homogeneous. There are significant barriers to entry: mainly culture and language. As Jake has pointed out, the guys who are only there once in a while, for a few days, speak no Russian and don't understand Russian culture operate at a significant disadvantage. They can only catch as catch can and if the girl in their lap happens to ask for 1,000 USD, they really aren't in any position to negotiate. That's understandable.

What bothers me is when guys like this start thinking that they are suddenly some kind of expert on Russian women because they picked up a lap dancer in Egoiste and start making banal pronouncements about Russian men and women and comparing Russian society to Western society.

If she told ME $1000 was her price, I would eventually stop laughing, then I would ask someone else, as would the others that walked away from her that night. I do not believe that in a market this large that what one guy pays has any impact on what other girls charge, or on what customers pay. What really raises the cost of ladies here is the same thing that raises the cost of a Big Mac, and at about the same rate of increase: cost of living, which is also market economics.

Let us go back to economics 101. Demand refers to service desired by buyers. Supply represents how much market can offer. It is completely guaranteed that every dev in this club will be aware of there associate landing the thousand $ whale by next day. With that in the back of there mind, they will have no choice but to experiment with this wonderful new found pricing.

I'm no expert on Moscow, but on my last visit, between Nightflight, stripclubs, and lobby girls, I was never initially quoted more than 500 US. The key was to chat the girls and make sure you both had chemistry towards each other before negotiating. These girls were not stupid. If they would have quoted a grand, they knew I would have been turned off and walked away. This is just like any other business where credibility is everything. Yes they were all smoking hot.
