Below is extract from Article 'The Russian Mafia in Asia' re: an attempt to pay a girl free from the mafia. By Bertil Lintner (3 February, 1996)

" On July 24th, 1994, a couple was found dead in a dingy flat in a working-class suburb of Vladivostok in the Russian Far East. The man had been shot once through the eye and the girl had been tortured and then shot in the head. Oh! Near the market! Unsurprisingly in a city of 16 million people, there are a few dozen markets in Moscow. Izmailovsky? Savyolovsky? Rizhsky? Dorogomilovsky? Danilovsky?

This is almost laughable. How you could get all this (useless) information, and not have a simple STREET ADDRESS is beyond me. I was transliterating from Cyrillic to Latin characters (with no prior Russian study) on my first trip to Moscow. It looks intimidating at first, but it's not that hard. Really.

I will not post on this topic any more. I've offered you the best advice I could, and that was to hire a private investigator before setting foot in Russia. You are less than useless here, and as many have already pointed out, there's a really good chance of you getting injured or worse should you go about this on your own.

My solution to our friend Sex Wanderer is simple: FIND ANOTHER, BUT A FREEBIE.

I dunno, IT... I think our friend's strategy holds real promise. Here's how I imagine it:

SexWanderer bumbles around Moscow with his Armenian cab driver sidekick, Dickran, and like Borat in the US of A, seamlessly integrates himself into the Vietnamese community. Working deep undercover at a Vietnamese corner grocery, he spends his nights sweeping rat shit and his days combing the stalls of markets, passing around photos of his True Love (R) in hopes of any lead at all. SexWanderer at long last uncovers the true identity of his lover's pimp, and with the help of two AWOL'd soldiers whom he "befriended" behind his grocery (and for a $10 tip!), they storm the enemy lair with the best weapons he could muster: a sharpened broom handle, a two foot long kolbasa, and a pair of channel lock pliers. With full knowledge of what's in store for him should he try to resist, the pimp reluctantly agrees to give up the girl.
