I cannot recommend Rick's apartments at all. Rick has such a big chaos in everything that you have to contact him by email and telephone ten times before getting an apartment. His apartments are mostly older and in bad conditions. The cleaning of the apartments could be as well better. It can happen that you arrive in an uncleaned apartment and the bed is not done. His apartments are quiet expensive compared to several competitors.

What can you guys on the ground, tell me about this situation and how dangerous is it for a sole tourist to travel there for a few weeks?

Thanks in advance for your help and any contributions on the subject as this is the only area of my trip I need to fully understand before I book it.

You may have read the forum a lot but you did seem to miss the point that tochkas are mobile and dont often stay in the same place for long. So getting an apartment anyway within the garden ring is fine... I've walked to tochkas before too, but generally you will have to take a taxi. Taxi is almost unavoidable in Moscow if you want to see much.

As for Rick's apartments, they are ok. Every apartment is girl-friendly, noise is never a problem.

Yes, I do have experience with this, I've stayed in his apartments 4 or 5 times last year. It always worked out well, and Rick is it seems reliable, but if you don't have nerves of steel, I would look elsewhere. (Friends, please correct me if something has changed this year)

The reason is that Rick's communication is like a black hole. I've usually received information after mailing twice and calling three times. He's always had an apartment for me waiting, but he made me believe that he was working for two weeks throwing out other guests to make room for me in the very last second, if you know what I mean.

Twice I had him arrange visa for me. Big mistake. I've received the necessary papers so late that I had to go for an overnight application to be in time for my trip.
You might ask why did I do it a second time. Well, he was on a short holiday the first time and I thought that his office didn't care while he was gone. Now I know that his office was (used to be - there were changes) more effective than the man himself.
The real reason I used his service quite a few times was that most of his old apartments were just 5 minutes on foot from my office - and that's great if you know Moscow traffic. These old apartments are not so nice, but good quality by Russian standards. The new apartments (the ones he took over from CAT) are much better looking and usually are a better starting point for nights out.

So to sum up. I would recommend going for Rick if you really don't mind getting last-minute information - as I said: in my case in the end it always worked out.

Hello everybody,

I have a view questions for my trip to Moscow end of April 2006.

First of all I have seen lot's of information on Tochka locations and apartments but what would be the best choice? What I am looking for is an apartment (With no hassle from the owner/operator to bring girls and trouble with the neighbors concerning noise) and close to a Tochka Line-up. I prefer within walking distance so I would not have to bother with taxis. If combined the apartment and Tochka close together and maybe a good bar in the neighborhood my trip will be super.

Does anybody have experience with the apartments from Rick www.enjoymoscow.com

I don't think we control more than 50 percent of our lifes and the rest is controlled by say whatever "external forces" "god" "mother nature" .
