Rouble is at same rate as used to be 3 yrs ago, services, food prices have not changed much. Only barrier I faced was unavailability of my Visa / Master card payments. I dropped by Sberbank to get Mir card to use non-cash payments. It took 15 minutes to issue card. It is useful to use for taxi fees if you tie with mob number.

Have searched and my understanding is that with the exception of some nationalities like Serbians most tourists are not allowed in Russia. You can enter only by an airport and you have to be a resident of the county that airport belongs and only direct flights are allowed. That rule will exclude all of the western countries as there is no direct connection with Russia anymore. It's a shame as I booked a really good hotel 2 months back when the ruble was at the lowest. I can't believe that has strength that much to pre war figures.
