I am not sure where exactly the hotel is, cause a local friend took me there, but it was close to a metro station called Moskovskaya. I have been lurking on this forum for a little while now. After so much vicarious living (reading!) it looks like I will be finally going to Saint Petersburg in either March or April. It will be my first time in Russia, and as it is my first time and my Russian is practically non-existent I have decided to book a hotel. The problem is I don't have a clue about what a good 'girl-friendly' hotel. By the sound of its pretty hard to involve some bribing / tipping of hotel employees, but perhaps some hotels are better than others?

I am looking for a 3 or 4 star hotel, ideally somewhere quite central. Running a search for hotel on the forum, I got a lot of hits, though unfortunately a lot of these hits were from 5, 6.7 years ago. A lot can change in 5 years. Ownership, personal, etc. So, I thought I'd ask.

In the Grivtsova 3 you should not enter the courtyard at all, but there is one staircase under balcony in the street and in there is apartment 41, sorry if I was misleading you =)

For me Rossi's was much better than Magrib, cause you have also regular students at Rossi's and it is 10 minutes walking from Magrib.
