I think it's very possible to still get freebies by the boat load. Try travelling to a smaller city (100,000-200,000) out somewhere east in European Russia or Western Siberia. I've been to a few of these smaller cities, and hardly any foreigners go there. Hotels are cheap ($30/night for euro-remont) and all of these towns have nightclubs that get PACKED on the weekends.
