Anyone ever do a long term stay in st pete (1-2 years) or is that nuts with how cold and dark the winters are there? Wondering if expats have only visited for a few months or actually try to live for a few years to enjoy the city and mongering.

I am at Saint Pete now, staying at a private flat just north of city centre.

My first stop this week so far has been at xxxmassage. Ru. This is my third visit there this year. Not since my initial visit in 2014, reported previously, have I been offered FS. To me, 50% HIV positive prostitutes sounds like a high number. In any case I expect it is difficult to give an even remotely accurate number, because there are so many different groups of prostitutes, ranging from impoverished, low-class, drug-abusing streetwalkers at tochkas on the outskirts of the city to high-class and sometimes highly educated escorts. And a lot of different categories in between. I get the impression that NGOs and agencies involved in fighting HIV tend to base their data on the former rather than the latter. Having said that, there is no doubt that Russia has a serious problem with HIV and AIDS. Intravenous drug use is one big component, but heterosexual contraction is playing a growing (and already big) role. HIV carries a much bigger stigma in Russia than in most Western countries, so the problem is largely hidden and as you know you cannot tell from looking at (or having sex with) someone whether they are infected or not. If you sleep with tens or hundreds of working girls, as I and many other people on this site do, it is highly likely that you have slept with people who were HIV positive. If you consistently use condoms for penetrative sex (vaginal and anal) the risk is very low, if the condoms are of good quality and you know how to use them. I don't know of any other way of securing oneself. I found a clever solution for calling from a russian cell# outside Russia. The first time I went to Russia last year, I purchased a local SIM card. Then, I registered the number for calling line identification on my Skype account. Then, I was able to negotiate and inquire with a salon using my Skype account just prior to my arrival while appearing to be in Russia. It allowed me to hit the ground running with potential arrangenents made for my first day. Once I returned to SPB, I just recharged my SIM, continued using it and no one knew the difference. I suppose my cover could have been blown if they had called me back prior to arrival but it didn't seem to happen.

It is also highly useful to use Google maps on your phone to find your way around.

If you don't' speak Russian, it would be best to have the help of a local (see also the point on foreign accents below). The ideal for a non-Russian speaker might be a combined driver / interpreter / secretary who spoke English and Russian and thus could make calls for you, drive you where necessary, help you find the correct entrance and floor and pick you up again afterwards. I think you are unlikely to find cheaper options in Moscow. It is one of the world's most expensive cities. It is a big tough place with the highest concentration of billionaires in the world (at least at some point during recent years) as well as a lot of other successful people. And surprise, surprise, they all like sex too. Since it is so big, distances also get time and money consuming. It is not a budget destination. Neither is Petersburg, but Moscow is unlikely to be cheaper. Look at the poor sods on the Moscow forum going to Night Fligth and paying 500 EUR for makeup.

Concerning other locations in Russia my information is a bit out of date. I think there may still be good opportunities, but you would need time and perserverance and would probably benefit immensely from Russian language skills.

Petersburg is not the ideal place to go for a one or two day stint. It is best to have 3-5 days (without too many other commitments). This is because it is a bit hit and miss, and sometimes there is a bit of resistance or practicalities are difficult to work out if you don't know your way around. Petersburg is also not the best place to go for an inexperienced mongerer or an inexperienced traveller. Even an experienced mongerer and traveller who does not have much post-Soviet experienced may be put off. Frequently one has to go into situations where alarm bells are ringing (into a dark, run-down courtyard in the middle of the night; through an obscure unmarked door; into a smelly, dingy stairwell, etc.). I asked a couple of girls about this, and they confirmed that that is what is going on. They explained that they see people from those countries as disrespectful towards the girls and sometimes unhygenic and difficult to communicate with and therefore try to keep them out of their establishments. KARAMELKI.

Karamelki is the best known of the chains of salons in Petersburg and subject to most reviews and discussion on the Russian internet fora. According to its website, it has four branches. In practice Mayakovskogo I and II are two apartments on the same floor on the same staircase. But are run as separate operations. The Karamelki at Volkolvskiy seems to be located quite near Pulkovo Airport, perhaps a 10 minute drive (if there is no traffic jam) - but I have never been there to check.

The girls are mostly not model-style attractive, more your girl next-door type with a good bit of variety. There are some real beauties too, but they tend to be fully booked. Service is usually good or great and open-minded and people tend to have good experiences there. I have at least twice had quite serious crushes on girls from Karamelki. Girls whom I was not sure whether to select when looking at the lineup, but who blew me away in the room. The chain has a total ban on BBBJ, but in practice this is not always upheld, some girls will reach a deal for extra payment, and some will do it on their own initiative (and some will not do it no matter what).

The entire house is a brothel, with various rooms, showers etc. Vassiylevskiy Ostrov is an island across the river from Nevskiy Prospekt and the bridges close at 1:30 am for a few hours, so you should make sure not to get stuck there after that.

Directions to the Karamelki branches at Mayakovskogo: Ulitsa Myakovskogo, Dom 23. There is an unlit sign there that says "Biblioteka". Stand under the sign and ring the bell to be let through the gate, through the arc and into the yard. In the yard there is another arc on the left, which you do not go through. Instead you call them again and they let you in through the door immediately to the right of the arc. The apartments are on the sixth floor, but the ramshackle lift only goes to the fifth floor, so you need to climb the last flight of steps even if you brave the lift. When you get to the top Mayakogskogo I is to the right and II to the left (as far as I remember). Go to I, not II.

MARKIZA.

Markiza at Prospekt Prosveshcheniya is far from the center, in northern Petersburg. Markiza at Park Pobedy is a bit out of the center, in a southward direction. The two other Markiza branches are both near the city's main street, Nevskiy Prospekt and relatively near each other. I tried the branch at Ploschad Vosstaniya.

I first slept with Kristina, who didn't have her profile on the website. She demonstrated a level of sexual aggression I don't think I have ever experienced before. The gate on the left is always open, walk through that and continue straight fowards another 30 feet or so, and you will get to the corner of a building with a large number "6" over the door. There are two small dorbells next to the main one, ring the one on the far right without a light. The salon is on a high ground floor.

TSA TSA.
