my experiences of spb last week. just walking around nevsky you see the mos amazing women and they wear next to nothing. if you know some russian it helps as usually the women do want to talk to you, but not so many know english :-(

i checked out a few erotic massage places first. 800r for 1 hour with a girl of your choice. usually a semi-erotic massage with hr at the end. these are in typical russian flats, so very dated.

next, i tried a few numbers i found on the net for intim services. the best one i found was 1500r for 1 hour. again choose the girl. this time the apartment was one of the best apartments i have seen. dark wood floors, sparkling bathrooom, stunning. the girl i chose was good, but she spoke no english. this place is near the technology institute metro. pm me if you want the number.

i tried another intim place near lennisky prospect. it was 1300r but it was such a run down apartment. the bathtub was rusty and smelled bad. the girls were ok, but it did not feel safe whatsoever.

went to marstall, chatted to the hookers to find out it was around 3500r for 2 hours - seemed to much so i ended up with a girl i chatted up. i went back to her apartment which seemed about 10miles out of town and spent the night with her.

i also went to club metro, but left after 1 hour as the girls seemed too young. either that, or i felt too old. give this one a miss.

e69... you've identified one of the biggest disappointments that people find when they go to a russian apartment. the apartment may be very nice, although what you described is inexcusable, but the entry may be disgusting.

the problem lies with the fact that when the ussr collapsed, people were allowed to "own" their apartments. so, in the subsequent years, in any given building some apartments have been renovated and remodeled to high standards and others are filled with babushkas with 60 years of accumulated junk. these babushkas are probably living on a pension which is next to nothing. so, if the owners of the upscale places try to get support from other apartment owners to remodel and/upgrade the entrance, they are met with scorn.

so, the entrances of many apartments which appear nice on the internet turn out to be rather disgusting. all you can hope for is a short-term apartment rental company that understands your concern and therefore take steps to only offer apartments with a reasonably clean and safe entrance.

you also identified one of my biggest pet peeves... bottom sheets that do not fit the bed. the worst thing in the world is to have a night of pleasure and the next thing you know you are rolling around on the bare mattress along with the friends of the last 100 guests at the apartment.... talk about unsafe sex! the russians seem not to have discovered fitted sheets and mattress covers!

fortunately not all russian apartments suffer from these problems...

in any case the reward is certainly worth the hassle, imho!

Was last week in SPB, somehow disappointed, girls all over styled and to much dolled.

However main reason I am writing is the apartment. Got one through Roxana, very helpflu and good service. Once in the apartment it was ok, nothing special for € 85.00 a day. had to clean jaccuzzi first, find out it did not work, sheets on bed covered bed only half, but worst was the enterence to the apartment. I never saw such an ugly and stinky entrance. Junkies around, alcoholics, their was not light nothing. So be carefull and ask whenever possible a photo from the entrance, this really was an horrifying expericence.

I am living in Saint Petersburg myself right now - been here for a few months.

The phrase-book problem you had - generally, the girls in Magrib, and similar locales, want to practice their English, so they don't want you to use a dictionary of any sort to speak Russian. They can be quite rude about this (I'm studying Russian, and have had plenty of such problems). I think I'd actually have more luck if I just gave up on speaking Russian, and played 'dumb tourist' as well.

Depending on how old you are (or on how young you like your women), you might try 'Metro Club'. You'll need to take a cab of some sort - a bit of a hike from Fontanka/Nevsky area. Any cab driver will know where it is. Only happening on Friday/Saturday nights, but, wow - the cutest 18-21 year old girls you'll find, anywhere. Given their age, you're not likely to score much more than some dancing and kissing, but that alone can be a bit of a thrill (then again, you may get luckier than me).

As for cabs - much cheaper to flag down private cars - regular cabs generally rip off tourists something awful.

I've been lurking for awhile, thought maybe it was time to contribute. First off all, I must say, that I don't like to pay for play. I have done it twice and have never liked it. I have just returned to the US after two years in St Pete (and yes I am chomping at the bit to return). I though that I would share some of my experiences.

I am suprised to note that no one has really mentioned Tutsy Bar in the forum. It is located off of the Lt Schmidt Bridge on the Vaselievsky on a small boat. It is one of the true gems of St Pete. On Friday there is an excellent show programme and the girls are all available on site. They have just remodeled the rooms upstairs. The going price is 4000 RR for an hour. Yes I know that this is more than what you would pay for take away from the bars, but I had a live in girlfriend and the fact that it was room inclusive was a plus. You can get lap dances at your table from every girl (7-9s) for 50 RR and get an idea of your favorites.

Koko Bongo, located in the Stockman building on Nevsky next to Kazan Sobor is another place worth checking out. Aslo full service in the lap dance room, about the same price. No beds here just massive carpet burns from the floor. The girls are not as hot (4-8). It is on the good side of the bridges so you don't get stuck.

I hope to be back in St Pete for a week at the end of Sept or beginning of Oct so if anyone will be around drop me a line.

Around 23.00-24.00 both nights (Fri and Sat) there was quite a lot of action in the main bar adjacent to the lobby. Probably hotel's own regulars, as some knew each other. i went to spa elita last year. it's on the main moskovy propect if i remember correctly. its very professional. the give you a catalogue for you to pick a woman. often they don't have the women available, but you'll end up with a stunner anyway.

off to the room for an oily body to body massage with last about 40/50 mins and then hand relief. it was about 2000 rubles, which is expensive. you prod need to get a taxi there and back as it's quite far from the centre of spb.

there's a few other places where you can get an outstanding massage for about 800/900 rubles all in. there's no sex just hand relief, but the massage (boby to body) is awesome. these are usually in done it typical russian apartments where you can pick a girl (or two) from a selection of 5. they're all hot and it is difficult choosing sometimes. i've mislaid the numbers for these though. if anyone has the numbers please let me know. they speak limited english and you have to call first, so sometimes it can be a problem. i went to these about 4 times in the space of 8 days!
