Marstalls is quite bleak and getting bleaker, at least in my experience. There is also Tribunal, which is essentially a different version of Marstalls. Some days Marstalls is better, somedays Tribunal. I tend to think they both are quite depressing when you've seen them more than once or twice. Prices are $100+, but I haven't taken a girl home from either of these places in over a year.

A better selection is Magrib across the street from the Corinthia Nevsky Palace (formerly Sheraton). Lot of cute regular girls, some pros. Expect to pay about $150+. But it isn't truly a place like CF, as the pro scene is more subtle and most of the girls in Magrib are normal and not that easy to pick up. Nonetheless, it is a nice place to hang out and during my last trip there I saw some seriously hot babes, somewhat restoring my faith in St.Pete dyevs.

Other guys know St.P better, but for me it is a pretty bleak place for mongering, as saunas, internet and hotel girls seem to be the best options and I don't like any of these alternatives.

Apparently there is a town outside of St.Pete called Viborg (?) which has an interesting pro scene, but I am not sure whether making the trip is really worth the effort.

BTW: Am still not all that happy that you said you wanted to meet for a beer in Moscow and then just disappeared. It is not that I waited around for you or anything, but I would prefer if people just say they can't meet as opposed to saying they want to and then going silent.

I will be in St Pete from 28th March to 3rd April. On my previous trip I only really checked out Marstalls which was a bit bleak. Can anyone recommend any bars like Chesterfield's in Moscow or do such dives not exist in St Pete? Also anyone out there game for meeting up for a beer at this time?

monster... I happen to agree with you, but here's my take on it... Some mongers absolutely love Spb and they get very defensive if you are critical of the mongering opportunities in Spb. Howver, personally, I feel like I am on a desert island when in Spb COMPARED to Moscow. Moscow has so many options compared to Spb AND, like you, think that generally Spb is a much more expensive place to visit and to play. Right off the top, the problem is that everything is priced in Euros instead of USD.

Of course, if you come to Russia and have never been to Spb... it makes sense to check the city out because the city and the museums are beautiful.

Is there any sense in going to St-Pete versus Moscow?
I have been to St-Pete and have seen the city and museums/theaters, so I am only interested in girls now.
So far I’ve seen that asking prices are 120-130 for 1-2 hours. And they don’t budge. Is it lack of competition?
I have checked apartment rentals and to my surprise downtown apartments in Moscow are 10-30% cheaper...( with the same number of rooms and amenities).
I know about bridges that add to inconvenience in navigating city at night. I also assume that there are fewer clubs and hangouts in ST-Pete as it is smaller city. Does it mean that talent is more concentrated since they have fewer places to go to?

I need an advise of those who know both cities well. I am fluent in Russian and looking for girls only. Is it worth for me to check St-Pete? Or is it smaller and shabbier version of Moscow with somewhat higher prices?
How are the prices on restaurnats,entrance fees to clubs, taxi services etc.
Please advise.

Here is a compiled index of working apartments I made from the Omen.ru website. The ONLY place I have personal experience with is the first one one the list. This is the apartment at 53 Nevsky Prospect mentioned in my 12/2/03 post. Apparently, all of the women working there have changed.
First listed are current working girls from Omen.ru (you need to usually ask for a girl by name on the phone for them to give you directions, apartment numbers, door codes, etc.). The girls change so you will probably want to check out the website if has been more than a few months since this post (unless you can bluff well in Russian). I have tried "Gde Devoshki" (where are the girls?) with only limited success. Next are the phone numbers and lastly is the price in dollars quoted per hour.

You are probably right about the accuracy of the foto's in the magazine. That being said I had a good time in all of them and there were a lot of nice sexy ladies in there whom I would have never met without his help.

The adresses are far from my mind because I only used them once in every instance and they are comprised of a street, flat, floor and appartement number. On several occasions I waited outside at a certain point, send an SMS to Mike that I was there and he then phoned the appartement. After a few minutes a girl would pick me up and take me to the appartement which always was one or two blocks away. Never did I have any problem, I did not feel threatened and if Mike did not like what he heard on the phone he would phone another one.

I visited at least 5 appartements this way. The girls were beautiful, very active sexually and a lot cheaper than the escorts or hotel girls. I paid $60 once for a threesome with two of the most sexy blondes I ever saw. It lasted two hours. The memory even now still brings a smile to my face.

Last year I visited St Petersburg and found a great american friend who spoke russian and helped me a lot with the hobbying. He gave me a local magazine with all the girls in appartements complete with pictures and all. After I chose them he would make the phone calls and gave me the info on appartement, floor and adress by SMS.This way I was able to go to all the salons where I would normally never get to. The prices were much lower than in the tourist places and the girls were very friendly and beautiful.
He also had a girlfriend Natascha that I did onces at $70 for an hour and she was the hottest thing I can remember. I would really advise using his services for anybody that does not speak russian himself. So not to come over as an advertisement I will supply his email adress to anybody going there and interested, just not leave it here in the open because I want him to stay in business.

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me, do you have any recent experience staying at the Rossia, in Moscow? I understand there are dyevs who work in the hotel, but I'm wondering about the possibility of bringing in dyev's from NF or a tochka.

Also, the last time I was there was about 10 years ago. I must have had one of the "old style" rooms. Have they modernized the place at all, or is it still the same drab Soviet style?

For price and location it can't be beat.

Prices with Alexei are something similar to the following:

Last year, he was charging around $25 for the tourist invitation invitation and accommodation voucher, both of which he'll fax to your home country free-of-charge. When you get to Russia, you've to register within two working days of arrival -- if you get to St Pete within this time, he'll do the registration for you for another 500 Pyb or so (this price is variable, as it's charged by a hotel which 'books you in' for one night and the 500 Pyb is the price for their cheapest room -- this may vary as it's at the whim of a bunch of larcenous hoteliers up near Finlandskii train station).

BTW, I should say here that the prices charged by various other russian travel outfits (which I won't name in publicly, but anybody who's tried to do this before will probably have come across one or two of them), are a rip-off. Generating the paperwork at the Russian end is (fairly) simple and these folks behind websites charging $100 or $150 for paperwork are less than honest, in my not-so-humble opinion.

Anyhow, back to the story. If you don't get to St Pete within two working days, but land in Moscow instead, I recommend kipping at the Gostinitsa Rossia, just off Red Square, and book an 'old style' room. Not only will this be something of an experience in itself, but the hotel's slap bang in the middle of Moscow for around $40 a night which is pretty good. The Rossia has its own cop station and registration bureau on the east wing which do registrations overnight.

Flats in St Pete come in all shapes and forms, from the very cheap ($5 per night with a babushka on the outskirts, which you can organize at Moskovskii train station, if you want an even more authentic soviet experience than the Rossia), rising to very plush flats on, or just off, Palace Square -- Dvortsovaya ploschad -- coming in at anything up to $150 per night.

On Alexei's website at http://www.ltour.ru, there's a listing of flats, pictures, prices and the rest. In the past, I've stayed in city-center flats for anything from $35 per day up to $80 per day -- your mileage will vary, depending on what's available at the time and what you wish to spend. He'll usually give you a selection of two or three locations to choose from, once you let him know your price range. The most important thing to look out for is a hot water tank within the flat, and not to rely on a communal hot water supply which may dry up at random during the winter, and even worse, during the summer months.

St Pete's a nine-ringed circus and you'll never be bored.

Having said that, though, Metro is rather more target rich, if a bit of a hike from the fancy end of Nevskii, where I tend to stay. Haven't been to the other two, though; where are they?

Money Honey's good for a laugh too, and have come close enough to a couple of freebies there too. Excess alcohol, the presence of friends from home with whom I was sharing several flats on various occasions, both combining to put the tin hat on each of these outings, sadly.
