Privet guys,

For renting flats, the cheapest, and most honest guy I've dealt with, is Alexei Masslenikov who lives at http://www.ltour.ru. He organizes visas and accommodation vouchers too, more cheaply than anybody else, so if you've not already got your paperwork sorted out for your trip, he's the best guy to speak with, if a bit disorganized from time to time. I've been to st pete a few times where he did the paperwork + flats and it's always worked out perfectly.

For girls, well, I wouldn't go flashing $400 about the place. Try a more reasonable $100 for the night, or just tot along to Marstall and try and pull a freebie :-)

I am planning travel to Saitn for the first time. Can some of us please give me some information about where to go to find normal woman, as disco and so on, and where to go if I won't find a normal woman:O). I mean to have cheap sex. Surely I think I will have not problem to find a woman for 3-400$ for the night:O).

And who knows some website where I can find rent a flat in Saint?

Avoid Golden Dolls like the plague. The old version was fun, with girls who at least pretended to enjoy the work. Now, just a blatant rip off. At least the place seems to have few clients these days.

Golden Dolls is still there and getting to be more and more of a rip off place. Girls are still cute, but are pushier and much less accomodating than in the past. Haven't been there in months with no plans to return for that same reason. I long for the pre-2000 days when it was under different management and one of the best places on the planet and when with some sweet talk you could agree to meet the girls outside of the club for a free "date" or "city tour" with the possibility of more. Prices for take out were always high though, I remember quotes of $350-500... all of course ridiculous.

Anybody experienced some positive development there recently? I used to love the place but now have scratched it of my "St.Pete To Do" list...

I was in SPB in 2001 and went to a strip club named Golden girls. Expensive place but the girls are very preety also. The price for a 2 hour short time was u$400. It was beyond my budget.

Is it still there? What is the price now if any one knows Please let us know.

Recently stayed at Hotel Oktyabryskaya in St.Pete. Not ideal for mongering, but cheap, clean and conveniently located.

There are girls working in the cafe-bar which if I remember correctly is on the second floor. When I was there there were 8 girls, of which 2 were very doable, 1 from Sakhalin Island (although not Asian-looking) was really sweet and we spoke, played pool and drank together for about two hours before I went to my room...alone. I didn't feel quilty about wasting her time, I was the only potential john there. Lobby girl on a slow night... what a boring life that must be.

Anyway, as point of reference, she was asking $120 for an hour or $200 for two hours. Since the room only cost $70 a night, I found the the prices a bit high for a single hour. I countered with $100 for 2 hours but she didn't budge. So I called it a night. It was late and I was tired, so I saved my cash for Moscow.

I can understand the reason for their asking for Euros in SPB.

For one thing, the currency's value stability and secondly, SPB is close to West European countries. They can within 1½-2½ hrs. arrive in Helsinki, Berlin, Paris, etc. and enjoy their HARD earned wages without currency exchange fees or fluctuation as compared to the falling dollar.

db... I hope this trend to ask for Euros in just in Spb. I have yet to have a girl ask me for Euros in Moscow. I hope they don't figure it out!

Errr no...

If you ask the price they will quote for example 100Euro. If you want to pay in dollars they will want about $130. The women may be many things, stupid is not one of them!

If you travel from the US, take Dollars, otherwise use Euros or Roubles, exchanging money twice is never sensible.

As I said prices in Euros have remained unchanged for some time since at one time the girls either did not take Euros or asked for the same amount in Euros or Dollars as this was to the girls favour, or later of no import when the Dollar and Euro were at, around, parity. As the Dollar has fallen in value against both the Rouble and Euro, the Euro has retained the same rate vis a vis the Rouble (approximately).

For those whose maths is not so good, just use Roubles, it is always easier, but I know that many Americans only feel safe with Dollars in their pocket

The girls do nowadays prefer the Euro over the Dollar for the reasons that I gave. Travellers will have noticed this tendency in many other CEE countries recently.

Slight correction. The Euro is worth approximately 26-28% more than the dollar at current exchange rates. So, if one can pay in dollars, I suggest to do so and save.

If you are going to be paying hard currency then they will nowadays tend to prefer Euros as a more stable currency. Their pricing is nowadays usually in Euros, which means prices relatively unchanged over several years, unless you are using Dollars.

Generally, I paid in Roubles, although as I said, they think in Euros.

At one time they would ask for, say $100, or 100Euro, nowadays, they ask for 100Euro and of course, more Dollars. although the value is of course the same.

I would not change Dollars to Euros though, youjust lose on the exchange and in real terms it makes no difference whether you use Robles, Dollars or Euros

I see most of the web sites specifying rates in $. Personally, I don't like to carry cash with me, I prefer to withdraw from ATM as needed, but of course that would be in local currency.

Rovnak, as to cost, if you can get a decent apartment in walking distance of the centre of town for less than $400 per month in Prague then it might be cheaper. As for paying for sex, well if you like brothels then Prague might be cheaper, becasue there is not the same emphasis on that trade in saint Pete. OTOH there is plenty on Russian language sites, some listed on this thread. If like me you enjoy a mixed diet then I think Saint Pete wins, not least becasue living there is relatively inexpensive so dating and social stuff is cheaper.

If you want a $100 shag, well they are in every city in the world, in almost every club...

They are very different, I spend a lot of time in Tallinn and it is 'home'. On the whole, I would suggest that Talinn is a much less pressurised place, more laid back in terms of man/woman stuff. It is of course a much smaller city. I think also much less expensive for most things.

If you want to shag a lot, either place will work, on the whole, I prefer Tallinn as a place to live and enjoy the women, but then I am not constantly chasing hookers!
