My surmise as that the girls came from a place nearby that is signed as an 'Eros Centre', if I remember correctly, it is on the same street that I have seen elsewhereas being a brothel, often called a salon.
I know nothing of prices, service etc.

In fact I could be entirely wrong and the girls might just have been waiting for their fathers to return home from work and walking back to their apartment together....

Dusty's reference to the Salon is something I did not understand. What is the deal with salons? My preference is a nice bathing, massage, and negotiated special services and hope to try a few Banyas in Moscow. Are salons similar in nature? What do prices run in these places and does anyone have any recommendations for such vendor around St. Pete's?

I agree with dusty's assessments on street action. One of the best places to meet semi-pros is outside of the Kanal Griboyedova metro station. Another place with potential is in the Quo Vadis Internet cafe'.

Also, I have had one very negative experience with the Stary Nevski area. One of my friends insisted that we try the "real" street action. We asked a gypsy cab driver to procure for us. We ended up with a couple of very marginal, obviously addicted dyevushki. I wish that I could say that I didn't partake, but the Flagman took over.

Maximus is only marginally better than GDolls, IMHO. I met one decent girl there. But my friend, who went with her friend, found out that they were heavily into using and selling coke. Bad news in Russia. So I never went out with her. One last bit of advice, FWIW, is to avoid Club Sahara (since Hollywood Nights closed, this may be a moot point since it was associated with that lovely port of call). The dancers there aren't as hot as at Dolls, but are as greedy. Leave them for the clueless touristi.

Well, perhaps it helps that I was there for a month and also that I was approached by one of the girls in a bistro next to Magrib. We became quite friendly and went out on a couple of dates. Yes, real boy and girl dates.
She was definately working though and she did point out some of the other girls and I met a couple of her working friends. One time we were due to meet, I called her and she put me off for a few minutes as she was as she put it 'talking to a friend' as I walked past her she was talking to a big middle aged German guy, discussing terms. A few minutes later and she was back with me, terms not having been agreed.

I also got overly friendly smiles from some girls who were otherwise looking a little 'lonely'. Late at night, on the Nevski/Grib bridge you will sometimes see a couple of extravagantly gorgeous girls, they work in a 'salon' just down Grib, on the left hand side on the way to the CHurch of the Blood. Don't know the address. I always fiured they were drumming up business on a slack night.

Dusty, if there are SW on Nevsky, they are VERY discreet. I was there several times last winter, walked many times up and down Nevsky in the area you describe, and didn't see anybody I could characterize as being on the program.

Maybe I didn't notice because I didn't have my hooker radar on.

There are streetwalkers on Nevski. Some are very attractive. There are two areas. At night you will see them on Stary Nevsky, walking towards the Hotel Moscow. I have no knowledge of these girls.

The other posse is further down, you will see them wandering around, between Fontanka and Griboedova, possibly a little further. In decent weather you will see girls sitting outside the bars and cafes. These are often girls that might also work the clubs and hotels but don't want to pay 'rent'.

I had good, if weird experiences that I won't go into here. ne became my 'girlfriend for a few days, lovely girl. I gave her $50 per day. I look forward to seeing her and her friend when I return. Perhaps she will still have the phone she stole from me so I can call her...

Near the Europa, you have Marstall, on Canal Griboedova, mentioned many times elsewhere and Magrib, on Nevski, opposite the Nevski Palace Hotel. My preference is Magrib, notwithstanding the price. You could look at a place called , IIRC Rossiya, went only once, should have gone more. At the bottom of Nevski is the old favourite Tribunal, now under new, Russian and greedy ownership. It used to be fun, is now a bit seedy and expensive.

Avoid Golden Dolls. It is now an expensive rip off. I hope that they have to close down! Maximus, however is not a bad bet apparently, it gets good reviews from friends who have been, although I have not.

As to taking girls back, ask the girl. She will know what she can do. If you take a girl from a club, in general you can rely upon her honesty. In general, I believe you can in general also. ( Ihad one girl, to whom I gave money, for some reason we got separated, she spent days tracking me down and arranging to meet up again, one of the most memorable women of my long summer trip.

I don't know current rules about hotels, but it has been my expereince, thatthte more expensive the hotel, the more discreet and accommodating they tend to be.

I just read Musketeers post, boy he picks the bad 'uns! Tallinn and now Saint Pete. He was shooting at the girls on Stary Nevski though.
Reading his post reminded me of an expereince a few years ago, in the dead of winter. I was staying in the Hotel Moscow and walking back one night from Marstall, a long walk but I wanted to... There are a few all night 'produktiy', basically grocery and grog shops. In the winter the girls go and huddle in them and when a client comes along, out they go to take a look and sell themselves. Anyway, this night I was by now a little cold, the walk thus far was about 20 minutes in bloody cold snow. I went into one of these shops to buy something and to get a little warm. On my way out, in the doorway, I saw a pimp, with his girl. He obviously thought she was holding back some money... He had her skirt raied up to her waist and was fumbling around in her panties against her vigorous protests. I decided that for the moment I was blind and just walked away, an slightly unnerving sight though.

I'll be staying at the Kempinski Grand Hotel Europe in sunny St. Pete's in December so I won't want to travell too far. Is there anything in the general area that folk can recoomend. Also, if there is streetwalker action in the area, does anyone have experience with bringing ladies in? Are there any SP focused websites for working girls?

On my last visit to St Petersburg in the autumn of 2002 I had the pleasure (?) to try one of the streetwalkers on the Nevsky Prospekt strip starting from Ploschad Vosstanya up to Ploschad Alexandra Nevskogo. Some of you must have seen them: all year round there are lonesome girls or girls in pairs standing along the street. Dressed and looking so that everyone knows they are working girls. A friend of mine was at that time renovating a flat along Nevsky Prospekt near Moscow hotel and he knew well many of the regular girls, having used their services. Well, he is some kind of a sex maniac. I had no intention to copy him but was curious to know what it is all about.

It all is organized of course. You cannot work there independetly from the mafia. Most of the customers stop their cars, have a chat with the girls and leave with or without the girl. It is mostly hourly business: 1 or 2 h. If the customer does not want or cannot take the girl along the girls' pimps have rented them apartments nearby - within walking distance anyway.

Price per 1 hour was 1.000,- roubles = USD 34,- and 2 hours 1.500,- roubles = USD 50,-. The same price wheather in the girls' place and in customers' place.

Well, the girls are not the best-looking. You could hear from their voice and see from their face that they do not work in the highest steps of St Pete prostitution. Staying on their feet all night, week after week. The business seemed to start at about 21.00. I took one girl to my friend's apartment ( he lived in the same one that he was renovating, very dusty and all) for 2 hours. Had sex, nothing special there. There was no glamour, no enthusiasm, the girl was fed up with me, with men, with everything. All in all not one of my finest hours.

This was one year ago, I plan to go again in December this year - and plan to talk to the girls and hear what is new - propably the only thing new will be higher prices.

That's the very same Papa Co. You are dead on about the cactus. Funny. It's sad to hear that things are worse there now. This used to be one of the best spots for good, relatively cheap fun. You might try talking to the administrator next time. As I recall, she spoke decent English. But then again, I went on a weeknight a year and a half ago (March). I think that timing may be the key, hit them on an off night/time of the year if possible.

I am going to be in the area in the January/February time frame. Does anybody have an idea where the boat will be at this point? I hope it is still operating.

Thanks for the info and good luck to you too in your pursuit of feminine warmth in the St.Pete winter! For me St.P isn't a great mongering town or perhaps I just haven't explored all the options well enough. There are certainly enough beauties there, so maybe the pursuit of real girlfriends is more rewarding.

In any case any tips from anybody regarding St.Pete are appreciated, as beyond hotel girls, Marstalls and Tribunal, internet and escort services and salons the action seems difficult to access.

Colorado Otets: Is this the place with the Colorado landscape scene painted on the wall just behind the dance floor? (that just so happens to have a saquerro cactus in it, only found in southern Arizona, I think)? I went there many times with a girl I met on one of the web-sites in the summer of 2002 and New Years 2003. It's definitely off-the-track as far as tourists are concerned. Very small and cozy locals place that I would never have found by myself. Like you said, entertaining shows.

It didn't strike me as a great pick-up spot, but then I was always there with company. It seems that most of the people come in groups or as couples. Owned by Azerbajanis I'm pretty sure. Did you find it to be okay as a pick-up spot for regular girls?

I stayed in the hotel Oktabryska 1 year ago (see june 2002 reports). I did take a girl from the little cafe in the hotel and it was a horrible experience (see 6/28/02 post for the shocking details). The other girl I mention in this post is Olga and she came with me to the hotel twice from Marstals and I let her do all the talking. It only took $5 hush money for security to get her in. No room upgrade was needed.
I am, by the way, living in SPG for a few months right now. I went to Marstal's to see if the rumors about the women never changing are true, and they are. Olga was there, looking 5 years older than when I saw her in june 2002. She quoted me the "return customer" price of 120 euro for the night. I declined and I am looking for a Russian girlfriend (for free) for the time I am here.
With a little Russain Language practice these my cold, dark nights will be a bit warmer for sure. If not, the University Hotel is only 2 blocks from Marstals, behind Kazaan cathedral and is very understanding of last minute emergencies. The are few tourists here now, so prices should go down a bit I think. If anyone is looking.
Also, Colorado Otets (Papa colorado) ( in the middle of Vasilevsky island) still has a 50-100 ruble ($1.50 - $3) a girl/lap dance tip and 300 ruble entry to the strip club in the back. This time I stayed all night Saturday and went out to the regular dance floor to see the same strippers (with a couple of guys) give a surprisingly good cabaret/ topless floor show.
They still only get topless in the back room and they have the same crappy chairs with arms that they did last year. The girls are excelent dancers even if the the lap dances seem a little more distant now than they did last year. They have gotten the same wierd sex menu that I hated at golden dolls, with prices for god knows what (in Russian) from 500-4000 rubles (about $16- $130)
Be careful not to get too friendly with the locals because I made friends with some couples at my table ( in the dance club part) and got about 6 shots of vodka served to me over a 3 hour period. The getting home part that night is kind of a blur to me now.
I am not in the hobbyist mood these days but if I come across any good info I will post it here Good Luck!
