There are lots of scams going on for the past few years and has now become a pandemic, with reportedly thousands of girls doing this. My Russian friends told me about this after a girl I met on Instagram who was acting funny. The way it works is you meet a girl (they will approach you on Rubinstein street) or it could be a girl you've met on Tinder or Instagram, they are usually 18-20. Then they will offer you to meet them at a bar or a club, not a shady place where you will be robbed no, but a nice and popular spot. You will end up paying for their drinks etc. They get a cut. So be careful. If she says "meet me and girls in a bar" and gives you location, it's a scam. Always choose a place to take a girl (good hotel bar is a good choice), don't let them dictate where to take her, and don't go to their apartment, insist on taking them to yours. My local friends say it's HUGE. So unless you feel genuine attention from a girl including kissing etc, you're probably being scammed. Best to stick with salons and escorts or girls for money, so things are clear. SPB isn't cheap.

There is no massage if you are in a salon, it is not a massage parlor. There are massage parlors, but they are a different kind of place. Many of them have started only giving body to body massages with happy endings, no sex. It is often skilfully done, but personally I like sex (so I avoid them and go to salons.

The salon procedure is typically as follows:

You call up the salon and ask them whether / how many girls they have available. Some show this on their website with pictures, but you still have to call and say you are coming and get directions. They may tell you that they are full, which may be true or may be because they detect you are a foreigner and fear you are dark-skinned or Muslim, which some of them don't like. When I call them I seize the first opportunity to say that I am from X western country, and then they usually relax.

You follow the directions you got until you arrive at the entrance to the building. Call them up again and they say which doorbell to press and which floor to go to. The stairwell is often very dingy, typically Russian. If you are not used to Russia you may feel that it is very dangerous, but it isn't. When you get to the right floor, they open the door. A mamasan lets you in, you take off your shoes (Russian cultural requirement), she offers you slippers / flip-flops and takes you to a bedroom. She goes out and in come the girls (some places in a group, but more and more often one at a time, perhaps mentioning their names). You have to be very alert and attentive to see whom you like and remember their names in this short time. If you can't decide between some of then, ask those to show themselves again. You can also ask to have a word in private with your top candidate. Once you have chosen your girl, you pay up front. Then you undress, and she takes you to the shower. You can't go there on your own because they don't want customers bumping into each other in the corridor.

To do all of this, either you have to speak Russian (not just rudimentary, but quite good Russian), or you have to have somebody with you to interpret (ideally all the way until you have chosen your girl), or you have to get really lucky and find a mamasan who speaks English.

I have not use any agencies there, never. Long time ago I went to Karamelki salons, but to be only with a specific girl. I visited also other salons but they are now closed. Better forget other frases than Privyet and Do svidanya. Use a translator app if someone does not speak English, but it would be difficult to translate from Russian due to the Cyrillic writing which non speakers could not handle. Cab drivers take their own cut but cannot affiliate at all to prices. Salons do have a fixed price lists and what are included in service packages is written in some websites.
