About mongering, I can only stress that learning the language is a must. Normally that's what I do before visiting any new country. But this one was a real challenge and I did not have enough time to make it a go. Next time it will be better. However, a few key words and phrases that I mastered have helped me a lot so far.

Russia is very expensive regarding mongering. So my only option at this point are the salons, one of which I visited today. Like anything else, you do need to pre-qualify and interview in advance.
The girls with the pink border are pretty much straight up P4P and in most cases will invite you to their place. However, it never hurts to ask ask if they will come to your place. If you have a nice address they will sometimes come to you if you ask nicely. Some will charge more some will not. Average rate seems to be about $100 per hour.

Now, the ones without a pink border are a little more tricky. Some are pros incognito (masquerading as normal girls) who will spring a price and a phone number on you on about the third message exchange. No big deal.

The real challenge are those who purport to be amateurs. Most of the time, these girls are just looking for excitement and will not put out on the first date (unless you have limitless charm like our friend Dr. Skank) but that's ok too if you expect not to get laid on the first date.

IMHO - the ones to watch out for are the gold diggers and Sponsorfils who are looking for a sponsor. They have the potential to string you along, waste your time and angle for anything from a plane ticket to a green card to a wedding ring. Hey, I am sitting in Heathrow on my way back home and just remembered a funny thing that happened with Mamba Girl on the first night (when there was no sex).
