I'm heading to SPb in May and have stumbled onto the mamba. Ru site. There's not been a lot of talk about this site here (that I've been able to find). Does anyone have any experience with any of the girls here? Any bad stories?

The cops seem to hang out front of Marstalls and the old Tribnal in the wee hours looking for obvious tourist mongers to harass.

Although I have walked in the past its much better to spring for a few dollars for a taxi.

I have never had a problem walking on the Nevsky at any hour but came within seconds of a 2 guys approaching for a robbery attempt at 3:00 am a few blocks off the Nevsky. Saved by a gypsy cab in the nick of time.

Once again always take a car at night. Unlike Moscow Piter has a definite danger level for tourists with cops as well as thugs the main problem.

If you are on Nevsky walk west (actually northwest) from Fontanka canal one block as if you are walking towards Oksana's office and turn right at the first street (Karavanskaya). It's only a few doors down on the right at #26. Again, it's been renovated recently and I am led to believe that they have cleaned up the place. I would not call it a P4P place as much as a dance club now but there are scantily clad (and nice looking) girls dancing on stages all around the place. What it reminds me of is the "go-go dancer" bars that used to be popular in some cities in America back in the 60's (or so I'm told). I must confess that since I had my own girl with me that I was not really paying attention to whom was "working" and who wasn't.

Saint Petersburg - stayed at one of Oksana's apartments. Nevsky 72. It's half a block east of Fontanka canal. Excellent location. Unfortunately, it's also about 200 paces from Magrib's so it waaaay too easy to drop by on the way home if I was feeling lazy.

We ended up doing tequila shots which I knew would lead to no good. Sure enough, by 4:00 AM she was too drunk to walk and I ended up taking her back to my place. Sex was out of the question as we were both pretty looped. Next morning we were both pretty hung over so the only thing we shared next morning was breakfast. BUT – she sent me an SMS a few days later saying “I WANT YOU” so you can pretty much guess how that ended up. Again, about $100 very well spent. Had I not been with Zhenya, I think that I would have gone back to Tribunal that next night. Definitely lots of pretty girls looking for fun.

SECURITY WARNING
Walking back from Tribunal to my apartment at 4:00 AM we were stopped by two policemen. They could see that we were both pretty drunk and asked for documents and to allow them to pat us down. They went through all of my pockets saying that they were looking for drugs and weapons. It wasn’t until after I has returned to the apartment that the bastards had relieved me of about 5,000 rubles ($200) cash. Apparently this is a common practice in SPB. Two nights later the same thing was about to occur, but this time I held my passport and my wallet and cash in the other before I “assumed the position”. The cops picked up on this and realized I knew what was going on, so they sent me on my with minimal trouble. If you ever get stopped by the cops, make sure you have your cash in your hand while they frisk you. Otherwise, all of the big bills will disappear.

While I had ample opportunity to try them, I did not visit the Salonas. I was having too much fun with the amateurs.

SUMMARY
Great town with nice restaurants and pretty girls. A little more Bohemian than Moscow, but lots of fun. However, the sad state of the dollar is making P4P an expensive proposition no matter how you slice it. I suggest that you all invest son time in the dating sites unless you can afford spending lots of cash to get your willy wet.

I will share my UFA and MOSCOW experiences in the appropriate spots.

You scored a freebie at Magrib... good for you. I've given up on that place, even though it does aggravatingly always seem to be "just around the corner". I just hate it there.

As for the cops, it's a St.Pete tradition to get rolled by the police, welcome to the club. A few years back I was walking home drunk because my taxi couldn't drive down a one way side street and even though it was a mere 150-200m or so, within 2 minutes of being dropped off I was accosted by 6 (!) cops. I defended my wallet and passport but they got my phone. My suggestion... even if the route is short, take a taxi. I like to walk and still occasionally do, but it isn't a good idea. You stand out like a sore thumb on Nevsky and the cops are looking for suckers. In the dark back alleys you are asking for trouble. Nothing will happen 9 times out of 10... but that 10th time...

Explorer - sorry you did not read the forum where it was written number of times to avoid Gotica. During my last trip to Piter, my apartment entrance was right next to Gotica - due to all the bad publicity, I avoided it like the plague.

The main purpose of the girls in the clubs you mentioned, just like all the other clubs similar to ones in Wanchai Hong Kong, is to "separate" you from your money and try to obtain as much as possible.

Lesson for the future.

After a little break - then again and again I was “attacked”. After less than half an hour I went to the bar, paid for my drink, said I did not like the behaviour and attitude of the girls who really pestered me, and I left. First time I was really angry in a strip club. Terrible attitudes! To be avoided!

DOLDEN DOLLS
This club is on Nevsky Pr, I think it is 62. It is the classic tourist trap, but has been there for many years and is well known. Entrance 700 roubles. Here it was possible to sit relaxed, a few girls offered company, but took a no for a no. I had a drink with a couple of girls, relaxed atmosphere. When I asked, one girl offered sex all night for USD1000, 400 for club, 600 for her. I rejected the offer! Private dance 1000 roubles, I had one which was very hot and made me horny. Lots of girls, not many were really hot. I enjoyed my time there, but if you sit for some time and drink with the girls, it becomes expensive.

But a new club. When coming out from Golden Dolls turn left on Nevsky and then to the left into the first side street. Walk 50-100 and on the left side there is a sign with Gentleman’s Club. You go downstairs to the basement. I lived in the same building and I was there 2 times. It is a very small club, but with a friendly atmosphere. Entrance 400 roubles. One evening (Monday) there was no customer except me and only 2 girls dancing. I got almost too much attention. If the girl is up for it you can pay 6000 roubles to the club and take the girl out. What then happens is up to you and the girl which you then pay extra whatever you agree on. I did not do this, but the second time I was there I got friendly with a very hot girl, I got her phone number and we met the next day for lunch (=her breakfast!) and for USD300 we spent the time in my apartment until she had to go to work at 9 pm. All in all a nice and relaxing experience, but quite few girls and the general quality was mediocre.

SUMMARY
As everywhere, be prepared that stripclubs are ripoffs! It is important to accept this and that you are willing to spend some money to spend some relaxing time. Usually it is a waste! It is not the place to go for sex, but you may be lucky.

Here's my five cents on St Petersburg.

Been there a few times, stayed at Pribaltiskaya once. Plenty to pick from the menu, and I'm not talking about pizza. Quite OK in my opinion, one of the girls spoke excellent english. Albeit a bit expensive.

I'll be heading on another trip within two weeks, but it seems as if I'll be staying at a hotel in the middle of nowhere. Or does any of you know of anything fun going on around Hotel Andersen (approx 15 minutes walk from the metro station Petrogradskaya)? Since I'll be "on duty" I'll have precious little time to run off for long adventures.

Also, I can testify that rush hour in St Peter is no fun at all. What about 25 km (to Pulkovo airport) in two hours? You just don't want to get caught in it.

Equally, I can shun the hotel and find an apartment downtown, to be closer to the action, but still have to get to my meetings at the hotel, during rush hour.

You will have to go out of the centre in the morning, against the "rush hour", heading to your hotel. Metro out of centre in the morning is not very crowded, everybody is going into the centre at that time.
So an appartment close to/on Nevskyi Prospect is a good choice, because there are several metro stations closeby.
Only problem of noise, then, in case you want to sleep.
A very attractive area is "Canale Griboyedova" or even "Moika", but can be more expensive than Nevskyi. Because these are the bigger canals in SPb; best living area in the centre.
But in case, this is too risky for you, stay in the hotel. During daytime you can take metro to Nevskiy, in the night then taxi, because bridges still open.
A reasonable bar for the evening (after 23:00) is about 200m left in front of the beautiful church of spilled blood, looking from Nevskiy. This church you can see from Nevskiy, at canale griboyedova. In case, you do some gambling from time to time: best casino is "Taleon Club", close to corner of Nevskiy and Moika. Even in case, you do not play poker, slot, Black jack or roulette: Inside it is like a museum.
And some secret: In the casino building there is one of the very best restaurants in the city, but still reasonable prices. The manager told me, purpose of the restaurant is to attract the wealthy Russians to gambling.
In case, you have a girl, she will be very impressed to go there with you. Strict face control, good dressing, passport for entrance as a "Guest". American/Australian management.
