Guys considering Sochi for this summer, it seems there is no infos about it, why?

Probably the best months are July and August with schools closed and students in holidays, but....is Sochi a place for who? Rich Russian oligarch with their lovers or also for average young crowd?

What I understood, writing with some girls from mamba, is that the temperature is pretty hot, over +30C. I used to think that Russian movies were very strange: disconnected characters, careening through various bizarre, seemingly unrelated situations, apparently without any goal or purpose and yet, somehow, in the end it all makes sense. Then I discovered that in Russia, this is just the way life is. Sounds as if YS is about as Russian as it gets.

have been here on the island for 5 days now. leaving tomorrow to go back to moscow. pretty cool little place all in all but certainly not one of your hotter mongering destinations. i have been staying at the mega palace hotel, which arguably the best hotel in town. after all, president medvedyev stayed here once so i suppose that's saying something. if there are working girls in this town then they keep well hidden although i was told that there are a few saunas that you can go to for fun and games. in terms of a hooker bar, forget it.

an hour later i was regretting my decision to stay because the crowd had growth by only 3. some koren dude and his coke-snorting girlfriend who wanted to dance (alone) in front of the mirror. this was surreal because it was like she was in a trace. i was waiting for her to crash (literally) but she didn't. to my surprise, she just kept on dancing for more than an hour. the dude just kept sipping something that looked like a mojito.

ok. so much for war stories. the net of it is that yuzhno-sakhalinsk is a cool little town with a lot of western oil expats. both shell and exxon have their own compounds in the suburbs for families but there are some of the single guys who live in town. there are two "expat bars" that are pretty good places to go (mushka pub in the rubin hotel and and level 8 lounge in the pacific plaza hotel) for a drinks and to watch the footie or the american football or nba. there are some nice little hotties that appear to be hovering to snag an expat boyfriend. not that there's anything wring with that. there was one waitress at mishka that stole my heart and i am going back to see of i can convert that into sex. so pray for me. i am heading back to moscow tomorrow so even if i strike out i am headed back to greener pastures so wtf.

The city of Yuzhno Sakhalinsk you can visit freely.

But to venture outside of the city going around the island you will need to obtain a permit from FSB office.

The local office is supposed to give you one but in most cases they will telly to visit their office in Moscow.

The island is patroled by armed volunteer groups called &1076; &1088; &1091; &1078; &1080; &1085; &1072; . They have official permit to shoot any person (especially foreigner) they found suspicious but in most cases they will shake you down for everything you have.

Loaded with expats? Not that much, maybe ten years ago. Now you have small number of Japanese and Americans who make short time stops there.

Vyborg and other historical Finnish cities are popular destination for Finns and also for Russian upper class. There are plenty of opportunities to get laid ranging from hotel WGs to some organized brothels.

In Vyborg your easiest pick is to ask barmen or drivers for help. They usually get their commission so be aware.
