The pro scene has had it's ups and downs over the years - can't say it's really worse, it depends what girls you are in touch with at any one time and what you like. In Kosice at the moment there are a lot of average-looking 18 year-olds who are maybe not as enthusiastic as they could be but do CIM and swallow. Whether that's good or bad depends what you like.

The main difference now is that there is a very clear difference between the pro scene and dating. What doesn't work anymore with non-pros is fifty-fifty style - going in and saying "I'm a rich Westerner and I want to date and have some fun with you girls". Most girls will send you away immediately and the others will spend your money and probably not give you what you want in the end. In fact it was often that way years ago too, but you occasionally got lucky - especially with girls who were desperate to get out of Slovakia and live in the fabled West.

To get a normal girlfriend is harder than in the West because the girls are more conservative here (that is something I've been writing about for 6 years - these girls haven't changed). They don't date for fun, only to find life partners. If you can prove to them that you are serious about staying in Slovakia long term (for example by having some job here, making visible progress in speaking Slovak and actually directly saying that you would one day like to get married and settle down) then you can get one and you will be in the happy situation that you both consider yourselves to have got a good catch (because the girls do still have a fetish for westerners even if it doesn't override everyhting else). There is a lot more competition from responsible, working, local men than there used to be (compare my comments from a few years back on in the other areas thread about alcoholics living with their mothers) but you can still beat it if you are the kind of man who does ok with women generally.

If the deal you are offering is to date them then take them back to your home country then sorry, but all the Slovaks who don't believe they can have a good life in Slovakia are already in London and other European cities.

Yeah, I can only support that. Years ago it was Alladin's cave. Now I shake my head in wonder. The girls have been over pampered to an extent by the wrong people - one of the downsides of low-cost airlines.

I've had some great Estonian/Czech girlfriends, but they seriously believe that they're gods gift to men. Honestly, its a bit of a laugh. A couple of years ago I was dating a New York girl who was a lawyer & looked like a model 9/10. They are much more self confident but also proud, even arrogant. They are also much more demanding (they like now brand parfumes and clothes, trendy restaurants, in-fashion bars/cocktail bars, exotic holidays, nice cars and big houses like in North America or Western Europe ).

10 years ago, girls in Bratislava were happy to meet a foreigner, but since 2000 there are much more foreigners living and working in Bratislava... Also much more tourists (including British stag parties) are coming now to the slovak capital.

It ruined Prague, Budapest and Warsaw (who have been in these countries 15 years ago will understand) and is having the same effect on Bratislava as well as Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius since 2 or 3 years now.

But you can still have really nice time in Slovakia if you act well, it´s just more difficult and it takes more time but it´s still possible.

Regardings the profi scene, Bratislava is definitely not developped like in Prague but there are a few clubs in Bratislava where you can find slovak as well as ukrainian girls (prices from 2800 to 4500 skk/hour).

I am 31 yo italian, I live not so far from Slovakia, so I was in cz-sk 46 times in last 7 years, everytime in holiday.., and even if I totally agree with you, potential girlfriend everywhere, I saw slovakia changed very much in last years.

Girl are getting more selfish and proud, they want more to allow to have sex with them and most of times, most of them are waste of time and money, I think in one year they will have euro too...

It is a pity cause they are really nice and most of them, from my experience simply love sex and all in sex..

I remember when only few years ago it was possible to chat some months with them and in one week to have sex with 4-5 girls without pay noone euro!!! Now totally different..

I 1st went there in 1995 when i was 22. I spoke some German...which helped as English was still a new wave thing. Main thing is to smile positively, get eye contact and say hi - or Ahoj....and take it from there. I've never had a 'No' for asking a girl out - whether it be on a bus, train, disco, or on the street.

Whereas English, Australian and American/Canadian girls are generally fairly indecisive (well until they have a few drinks). European women typically are more independent and don't need a women's committee of their sororeity sisters to grant you a thumbs up to get some action.

Although I was very tempted, I came close, but I did not take a girl to my room.

They all were available. Some were German. The cutest was a little Slovak.

She really wanted to come with me. Of course, now I wish I had taken her!

The price quoted (in krowns) would have been around

70 USD.

Kinda high, but I didn't try to negotiate either.

Although I didn't see any hookers in Bratislava I will tell you now, having travelled around most of Europe in 5 months, and Slovakia, Czech and Hungary, I believe Slovakian women to be the most beautiful. I was able to talk to about 2 young girls in Bratislava who spoke english and they were friendlier and a lot less snoby and up themselves than the Czech girls, even though they were a lot poorer. Czech is way too touristed out and the girls there become more and more arrogant as more and more drunken male english tourists pay them compliments and try and hit on them.
