On cities. I'd say Kosice is better. I find it difficult to spend more than 20000SK per month here, including my rent for a large apartment in the Stare Mesto and all bills (except the bills for pussy, which is also cheaper than Bratislava).

Kosice is more beautiful than Bratislava as well. The educated half of the population generally speak some English, the downside is that this doesn't include the hookers (who are mainly girls who have chosen an easier life than waitressing all day).

The most important thing when looking for apartments is to get a Slovak to call the numbers for flats advertised in the classifieds and ask how much they cost (you can probably find someone to help you if you buy them beer). The owners will work out you are foreign when you go to look at the place but by then it is too late for them to increase the price by more than 500SK without annoying you and they prefer foreigners to locals so they are not going to let you get away (foreigners are less likely to cause them problems or to know about the extra rights tenants have, or to run out of money and not be able to pay the rent). Get a proper signed contract with their ID card numbers and your passport number on it. Don't bother with realtors, they are just there to take money from foreigners.

to timmy21: you can find a good flat for 400 USD/month, but I don't think it will be very luxery, and definetly not in the centre. I think you could get a 3 room flat with everything (cable tv, phone, etc) in one of good parts of Bratislava (Raca, Dubravka, Karlova Ves, Ruzinov). The 1800$ per month is very nice. It is 82 000 Sk. I suggest to give more for flat, if you want it better. Don't go for another city, everyone is heading for Bratislava. It is the place to stay in Slovakia.

Could anyone tell me the cost of living in Brastislava, is it possible to find a luxery flat (long term) for about $400 a month. How well can one live in Brasti on around $1,800 a month. Is Brasti the most desirable city to reside in slovak or are there nicer communites. Are discos popular places to pick up girls; working and otherwise. thanks.

I was in Bratislava last week and found for you some of interesting possibilities. I slept at the Hotel Forum near the pedestrian area. As I arrived the guy at the parking of the hotel asked if I want a girl (remember: those men always have good informations). I stayes in last weekend in Bratislava and I spent a wonderful time.
I stayed in Hotel Kiew, where there was a club on the second floor but I didn't checked it out. In the area sourronding the was lots af street action , but I wasn't interested in it.
I stayed there for two night. First night I went to Nitra, a small and beautiful town 60/70 km away from Bratislava. I looked for a club called Elvira, as posted. I was able only to find a club called ELIZA, in the street just behind the big theatre. You can't miss it. The street is full of bar and discos, and you can notice a sign with three red hearts and a write: "24 hours - Eliza" togheter with a disco called RIO.
I went there and I had a wonderful girl, named Simona, a 19 y.o. a 9-10 in my scale. Prices were 3.000 Sk for an hour and 5.000 Sk for two hours.

Apparently we are talking about two different hotels/stripclubs. The Hotel Dukla is more towards the center of town. There were four girls working each of the three nights I was there. The girls will escort you back to your room, but all they will do is provide companionship, dance, etc., and no sex. That was what two of the stripper girls told me anyhow (believe me I tried to get into their panties). Did not see any lobby girls or street walkers around the hotel. Security seemed to frown on that (probably because they wouldn't get their cut).

There was a taxi driver named Jarro outside of the hotel who took me around to the different establishments. He was really knowledgeable about the sex scene in Bratislava. In fact, he drove me over to a town called Nitra to sample a club they have there.

Since it seems you don't have much time to spend in Bratislava, my suggestion would be to hit the Big Apple and Cassanova since they are just down the street from each other. They are kind of expensive by European and Bratislava standards, 5000 to 6000 SKK for an hour, but when your limited on time I guess you have to expect to pay more. If you can hit the private apartments, that would be the best suggestion.

How about Budapest. All I could find was two houses that were owned by the same people. One was called Blue Eyes and the other one was Pussy Cat. Blue Eyes was by the Octagon. Let me know of your successful places in Budapest.

Was in Bratislava late February 2002, the hotel I believe you are referring to is Hotel Dukla. It has a strip club on the 2nd level. The girls are allowed to accompany you back to your room (can't remember the price and it wasn't cheap either), but all they will do is dance.

When I was in Bratislava I tested the waters at Club NewYork, The Bellevue Club, and Cassanova. The Bellevue Club was a laid back house of prostitution. The other two were basically strip clubs where you can go to a back room and get a piece. The price at Bellevue was 3000SKK and the other two were like 5000 to 6000SKK for the hour. Prices seemed high and the girls were ok, some spoke english.

Tried visiting two of the Privats listed at escort.sk in Bratislava. Visited the one that is farther out of the city center. The sex was 2000SKK for an hour and it was mechanical at best. They had four girls there and none of them spoke english. The other one which is Privat Sara is located in mid town.
