a) Payment is not illegal in Spain

This should probably go in a "general information" thread, but anyway, just to clarify once more and add a bit of information to what Chivaz very correctly stated: in Spain, prostitution is in a legal limbo. In general, what one does with his/her own body is one's bussiness (I say in general because I am not sure about what laws state about committing suicide).

Now, as prostitution involves a monetary transaction (you pay for a service), it should be listed as a profesional activity and pay taxes. It is not listed as such and taxes are not payed, and you cannot get a receipt from a working girl. Except, of course, if it's hidden as a massage parlour. In this case I guess the girls could be asked for a professional title to do so. Most probably they'd be listed as cleaning ladies, I guess. But this is just a guessing!

What is completely forbidden, is forcing anyone to prostitute him/herself. I guess that this falls into the general rule of forcing anyone to do anything, but there may be a special provision for the case of prostitution.

I've been a couple of times in clubs where police entered and raided. No hassle _at all_ for the clients. After they entered, lights went on, music went off, everything was quiet, no cries, no nothing. A couple of minutes after that I asked them whether I could leave and I showed my (Spanish) ID. a) Payment is not illegal in Spain
b) You do not have to worry about police unless you plan to do something illegal. Paying for pussy is not illegal
