StevieW, the way legally that countries accomplish thus result when they have an irritating thing like a Constitution that guaranties everyone the same treatment under the law is that they make the act of prostitution (and the act of solicitation) illegal, as well as making all (or almost all) activities associated with prostitution illegal.
Then they give a blanket exemption from arrest / prosecution to the person who was solicited or was paid for sex. The sex worker is considered an automatic victim under the law and is given immunity from arrest / prosecution even though she (or more rarely he) was a participant in an illegal act.
Threesomes and a sex worker referring business to another sex worker creates a dilemma for the writers of such laws. Mr. Harper and Mr. Mackay of Canada were the leaders of Canada when its Nordic Model was passed. They are both assholes, and at least one of them is particularly stupid. One of them took a question from a wily journalist who posed a hypothetical about a pack of roving prostitutes at the mall, some of which were theoretically underaged. The elected leader gave his opinion as to which of the ladies would be prosecuted if they approached a customer who accepted an offer for sex. The legal group drafting the law quickly issued a correction regarding most of what he said, and he was careful to never discuss hypotheticals again.
Like most laws of questionable Constitutionality, the solution for most governments is to never actually enforce them, but scare people into complying with them under the threat of enforcement. So there are few court challenges. A reasonable police force ignores them. An unreasonable police force, such as Sweden's, enforces them by doing shakedowns of customers near known incall locations.

Posts: 559It seems that sex workers and organizations are fighting back against the purposed anti-prostitution law. I wouldn't be surprised if agency and brothel owners are secretly lobbying against it too. Even the media has articles that criticize it last time I checked.

I'd say the important thing is the degree of enthusiasm by the police & the justice of enforcing whatever comes into effect. From what I know of France, it's not a lot. All the houses I know in France are still operating. I know girls who work there. Several in-country at the moment. There was a bit of a flurry of arrests when it first came into force which petered out.
I'd expect much the same to happen in Spain. I'd expect the local rather than the national police to be doing the enforcing in the towns that have them. If you're not familiar with dealing with the police here, they're much more part of the community than say the British cops. They eat at local restaurants & bars rather than a canteen at their station. One tends to know them as individuals. The cops, the girls, the clients are all part of the same community. They're not going to relish nicking their wife's uncle or their mate's brother. The Guardia who police the areas between the towns are much the same. Small town I lived in up in the Sierra Nevadas, for a while. One regularly saw people riding motos around without helmets. Guardia just ignored it. Get caught in a stop on the way home from the bar, they might advise you to park the car up & give you a lift home, if they knew you. Never mentioned breathylising you even if they had the equipment. It's an easy going relationship. You respect them. They respect you. I've had much the same happen with the Nationals in the town I now live in. It was obvious I was going to walk the short distance back to the club I'd just left. Tip off my mates not to drive into their road block. That's what they want. They don't want to nick people just to run a score up. No arrests is effective policing. No crimes have been committed.
But something that applies to us here. No developed country wants sex tourism. There's only a few establishments benefit from it & they'd much rather not have you. The trivial amounts of money it brings into a country are far outweighed by the reputational damage it does. No one wants to bring their kids on holiday to a sex tourist hot-spot. So I'd expect virtually anything the rank amateur visiting punter patronises to be targeted. They'll bring welcome column inches in the media here & abroad & show "something's being done". So if you want to continue punting in Spain after the legislation comes in. If it does. FFS learn how to access things other than the puti clubs your Google search brings up. There will still be a rich punting scene to enjoy. It just won't be served up to you on a plate. And you need to be doing that now, not when it's happened & it's got a lot more difficult.

The current bill is a Nordic Model bill. Purchasing sex would be illegal, but selling sex would be legal.
Commercial sex generally survives the Nordic Model, although it varies from country to country.
The least affected by the Nordic Model are independent escorts working in a nondescript manner.
But that drives up costs since they have to pay a lot in advertising costs, do their own scheduling, and have to be careful about how many customers they see per day for incall. That is less of an issue for outcall, but they have more lost time and expenses as they travel the city, so they charge more.
The incall customers per day issue is a big deal under Spain's proposed law since it currently places potential fines against landlords if they realistically should have known that commercial sex is occurring. That should be of concern to all landlords and the hope is that their industry pushes back as final debate occurs. A huge part of Spain's scene is trick pads shared by multiple ladies, some of whom stay there between customers and participate in line-ups for customers who don't make an appointment with a specific lady.
It is unknown how much a punitive landlord provision could ever be reconciled with the current laws that allow sex clubs to operate throughout Spain, and licensed line-up brothels to operate in Catalonia, under the current hotel statutes. These places are allowed to rent occupancy to persons for times as short as 30 minutes.
The other issue that has come into and out of the bill as it has progressed is a ban on advertising. This is another cost issue. If the ads, websites, and John discussion boards have to migrate to Switzerland or the Netherlands, it will increase costs, and some participants will simply leave the scene. Reduced supply means higher prices, generally.
Bottom line is that none of us know. Canada (at least Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver) was not negatively affected by the Nordic Model, although prices did go up a bit. France's scene was definitely hurt by it. The Swedes are simply too fucked up as a civilization to extrapolate their data and experiences to other countries. As I said before, the landlord provision and whether it applies to short-term hotel occupancy is the most important thing to watch as the bill progresses.
Just as with Germany's (supposed) mandatory CBJ law, anything that passes will make the scene less convenient and more expensive. It won't end it, fortunately. But it might make a lot of people become more accustomed to seeing independents after scheduling an appointment using email or a smartphone, which will cause a lot of ISG members to think the world has come to an end.

What is the current situation in Spain, I read somewhere that prostitution has become illegal? Is it true or the law has not been passed yet?

Posts: 18Quick report on Madrid trip earlier in the month. Had very limited time, so only had two opportunities to dabble.
First was a daytime session booked from Blue Velvet with Noah - 2 hours, arrived on time, excellent service. OWO, enthusiastic, 2 pops. Would repeat.
Second session again in the day time, booking at Amigasdelidia. I had Ashley, my friend took another girl I can't recall our name, but when we arrived to the apartment and saw them, both of us were happy. Easily as good as the photos, I think better. For my part service very impressive (she's Colombian from Cali, dark skinned, great performer) and would definitely repeat if I get to be in the city again soon.
For both sessions booking was very easy via WhatsApp, but I speak almost no spanish so for both sessions I used Google Translate app to make the bookings.
