Spain's economy is pretty strong. The only disturbing statistic is the high unemployment rate and that is largely bullshit. Keep in mind that many of the girls charging 150-200 euros per hour are listed as unemployed in the official statistics.

It would probably help if you indicated what you are comparing it to. Madrid seems less expensive, for comparable services and comparable looks, to the other major capitals of Western Europe, London, Paris, Brussels, Geneva, Rome etc.
