Generics seem to be 30-40% cheaper than brands.

At the pharmacy I bought at he claimed only 8-packs are allow. He only carried 4-pack, but discounted on two 4-packs.

If you want to be central for sightseeing the area called Sultan Ahmet is good. There is loads to see there and it is close to the Grand Bazaar. I did a quick search on "Sultan Ahmet" hotels and got many results. Expedia seems to have some hotels in your price range.

When I visit I always use public transport. Buses, trams, metro.
