I posted a while back that I would be coming to Istanbul on an overnight stop this month (arr. afternoon the 27th depart evening 28th) and am still looking for advice as to a recommended hotel that is both easy to get to from the airport and is close to the action (which I still need directions to...Irmak sounds like the place to go?)

Or if anyone knows a decent hotel that has "in house" service, even better.

While I can't say I have enjoyed what Turkey has had to offer, I can say that my trip to Antalya was pleasurable. It is truely a place to visit. All I do have to say is that watch out for 'friends' who say they can take you to a place in their taxi. Or offering you 'ganja'. I was with a friend and while the offer was tempting (female-wise), I had to think back to that movie 'Midnight Express' where the american went to a turkish prison for drugs. DON'T THINK SO.

I will be leaving for the US seeing as my rotation here is complete. I fly out for Istanbul the 14th of Sept to catch my flight back to the states on the 15th.

Exactly a month ago I went to Bacardi wth a close friend. We picked 2 girls and paid 150$ for whole night in my house. It was also a Saturday night. I think you are right, its because of Ramadan but giving 300$ for whole night to a bacardi girl is also something I can never do.

The market price is $100-150 for two hours and $150-250 for all night long, plus the taxi fare. Of course all rates depends on girl and the day (remember Fridays and Saturdays are busy nights). Girls don’t want to stick only one customer; that’s why they prefer 2-hour sessions. As a foreigner none of the mongers have a reason to worry about the cops. They know why you are there; they only check your passport and let you go.
