I appreciate your advice. I already contacted a Rent a Car Agency. For a cheap price, around 35 $ a day. For a small car.

I speak bad Russian but I can manage myself with difficulty and I can read little. (but always for simple and daily pratical things and not to open a long discussion.

I will consider your advice. I will rent a car for 2 days and try how things will be going. And if everything will be ok. I will take more time.

And what about safety? Is it safe to drive day or night in Kiev or to leave the car in the street by night? Any idea?

Easier to know if you're here and can meet them. Otherwise, a girl prepared to travel abroad with a stranger won't take the chance of trying to scam you there. She would be more worried about you selling her.

You don't need to lie to get success in Ukraine. You also don't need to spend large amounts of money. What you do need is to take a different attitude over a few things.

1st, if you use the 'my beautiful New York home' line then you won't get away with the 'minimal amount of money' act. Neither Ukrainian women nor Ukrainian men for that matter understand the concept of having money but not spending it and anyway A single rose get's you more kudos than a mobile phone.

2nd, know and understand your 'market'. In Odessa they would skin you alive. The girls there have had years of this and smell bullshit from 50 yards away. Few girls there actually want to leave.

3rd, your offer of marriage upon finding your beauty will put off as many as attract so better of cooling things down and let them do the guessing. If you plan to be long term then you'll meet tons of girls every day and won't need a dating agency.

4, remember that it's so much easier not lying and having to remember the bullshit. The stuff about finding a woman etc is normal and doesn't need spelling out.

I was trying to read the forum as far back as 2009, but I didn't see a lot about what you can do about using the phone. I won't be able to use my phone (from United States) because of the roaming. Should I just have a extra phone, and buy a SIM card when I arrive? Where could I do something like that, say at the airport or online. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Walk in to any mobile shop and get a cheap phone and ask the assistant to put some credit on it. 100 UAH should do 1. 2 weeks. Most staff in the centre speak English. A mobile would cost $50. You can even opt for the cheap international calls package, about the same as skype.
