Fiji, I use 2-3 apartment agencies tell them which apartments I'd like to stay at and how much I'm willing to pay. They return with a counter offer and then I agree or counter or just say no. You also get the best deal when you are staying in an apartment that the agency actually owns instead of brokering. The apartment I will be staying in for my upcoming trip normally rents out at $160, it was on website discount for $90 and I got it for $80. It helps that it's the slowest time of the year too.

the price of my apartment provider has dropped too, but for same standard jacuzzi, internet etc.) the price is still around 80-100 € a little bit less, on ul. baseina, very very close to bessarabsky rinok amd in front of arena. the price gets lower on extended stays, but minimum 5 nights. all services are extra, but cheap. daily cleaning and changing of all, including dish washing 10 usd...

the price is in the same class. in my opinion you can get same standard lower price (10-20 € less) but only outside center, may be close to a metro, but it's not my business.

In answer to your questions:

Avg Monthly Wage?
In the Ukraine I think it is about $600usd. However, in Kiev it is much higher. Also, once you start travelling in the "western calibre" circles, prices increase dramatically. For example, a high quality apartment day rate in downtown Kiev? $150usd.

Agency overnight rates?
Depends on the agency, I'd guess $300+ if you want guaranteed overnight.

Indie overnight rates?
I'd guess $200+. Indie by the hour? $80+

In answer to Doctor Skank's questions, no I didn't follow up with them. Frankly, having met them I just really wasn't interested in either of them.

Bbois77, my mistake was agreeing to dinner at Buddha Bar, which is where most of the money wast spent. Having said that, I try to keep in perspective the bigger picture. On this trip I was in town for 4 days, and my additional airfare costs were $800, high since it was the holiday season. (ie $200 a night). The apartment was $165 a night including airport transfers. Plus incidental expenses I'm already up to $400 a day before I even start mongering.

I could have been a cad and skimped out on dinner and jettisoned the girls early. But they were sweet enough, and that's not how I roll.

Like a batter in baseball, I think sometimes you've just got to hit the ball where it is pitched and not try to force the situation. I'd rather have 5 hours of nice company with two hot girls, than 2 hours of bad and impersonal sex (see my comments about RP), with the same two girls. Although I'll say that throughout the first couple of hours I was still holding out hope that things might heat up. Sometimes, things don't work out.

$400 is a bit heavy, but entertaining for 3 all night? that's $133 each... drinks, food, desserts, more drinks... pretty normal fare.

such are the hazards of chasing "freebies". if one isn't careful, it can get out of hand.

more interesting to know would be if fijiman ever had a chance to collect. at least one of the sistas owes him that, they can draw straws to see who is the lucky one!

I only take girls to Buddha Bar if they've never heard of it. If they actually SUGGEST it for a first date (along with other pricey places), I tend to walk the other way. Players like that are too rich for my blood.

The place was empty the first time, (and they close at 2am apparently?). This was the same night I went to RP, which was packed. And the place was jumping. Full of well dressed guys, also very in shape, and lots of well dressed hot women. The quality of the guys was much higher than somewhere like RP.

I had a good time dancing with the two girls, and watching various guys try to join me as a wing. I tried to help them out in gaining ground with the sister, but she didn't really seem interested.

In fact, to my horror, it turned out that these really were two "good girls". They were out to enjoy an evening paid for by the wealthy horny foreign guy, but there was no action to be had. On the flip side, they were reasonable and were not ordering champagne or anything silly. In total the evening cost me about $400. But that includes my food and drink, as well as cabs for the girls home. As far as sex goes, it was a complete waste.
