Where do I begin? I think first that I have to apologise for not reporting earlier about my this trip and not bothering about reporting about two previous ones! One to kiev and one to rostov!

However I was in kiev at easter and have a few interesting things to report! On the first night I went to river palace and had a reasonable time as you do! It was busy but not the same tempo it has had in maybe two years ago! And the girls are not as good but there was few to choose from! Police everywhere in centre and checking passports so be careful! First time in 5 years that I carried my passport! Lots of nasty looking donetsk skinheads in the maidan at night! But in the day no problems in the centre, the most I saw was 20000 maybe, but that was it and they were not very motivated, I heard a rumour that they were being paid 10$day to demonstrate! If the the thought of being hassled by the police bothers you! You can stay in a hotel and when they learn this they will lose interest in you as the hotel staff are not going to let them rob you! They only want to hassle you and frighten you into giving them some $ with the threat of taking you back to your apartment! I did think that we had seen the last of this on a wide scale in kiev!

Finally I can't go without a moan about my apartment! The photos must have been 5 years old, everything looked ok on the site but when I got there the carpets were dirty and it was tired to say the least!

BP, I believe what you wrote. I think you just got a conventineers impression of Kyiv. I started going to Eastern Europe back when I lived in W Germany so it's been a while for me too. It's been my experience that Kyiv is a good place during the week and the other towns are slow and boring except during the weekend. As far as meeting girls on the metro goes - I'm not one for mass transit but I have yet to be any place in Kiev that isn't great for meeting girls.

I am very new to Kiev and to this forum but for what it is worth here is my twopenneth.

I have picked up girls in other metros like in Prague and I find Kiev to be considerably more difficult.

Most girls not only refuse to speak but also tend to get away which is a bad sign. I did it for some hours when I was in Kiev and I was dissapointed. In comparison in Prague I managed to get 4 numbers of good looking girls in one afternoon. It is a pity because in metro there is the highest number of beautiful girls. In central metro stations like Kreshatik there can be 100 people getting out of metro everytime it arrives, which statistically means you see 1-2 hot girls every 5 minutes. Circumstances are ideal.

Maybe I will try again when I come back to Kiev since LS suggests it.

i think it is better to stay in province after the weekend,because there is better pick-up action during the day on the streets,which is less in kiev.on the same time indirect costs fall a lot.

tourists seldom choose lada old taxis because of their appearance.people who drive them are not so good cheaters as to make money to buy better cars.so one should choose them.they are also reluctant to charge more since they know the client may prefer a better car if they ask the same price.

I would suggest the following from some limited experience.

1. Find a Lada taxi and take the phone number of the driver. Lada drivers do not charge much. Everytime you want to get somewhere call him. Do not take taxis outside discos, clubs, places with foreigners. You will get ripped off.

2. From the airport you should not pay over 120 grivnia maximum. If sb starts talking with you avoid him and get to the taxis in row.

3. Do not try to pick up girls in metro. They consider you cheap sex tourist.

4. Visit Carribean. Many freebies, statistics work.

5. Visit Decadence for the eye candy.

6. Do not trust internet contacts. Very difficult to do one night stands.

7. Bring with you 300$ minimum for every day.

8. Get out of Kiev after weekend.

9. Bring condoms from home.
