I hide my money and passport and spare CCs inside a hidden slit at the bottom of my toiletries bag. I just cut a slit in the inside lining on a decent sized bag and put the money in the base. In 25 years of living here, there and everywhere I have never had that spot checked by any thief yet have had 2-3 safes broken into (1 in Las Vegas, 1 in HK etc). Laptops are of course more difficult. I have made a habit in my recent travels of informing lady guests and hotel staff that I have hidden micro cameras (just in case) that are switched on when I leave the room.

Most hotel break ins are either desperate insiders or people in a hurry. Hence the toiletries bag is a good one.

I also carry my money when I am out in my socks under the tongue / lip of my shoes and keep a small amount $10-25 or so in small bills in a crappy wallet I can throw in case of a mugging.

I leave my valuables inside locked luggage but I not throw a cable lock and secure it to another immovable object. Most apartments that I rent are located in buildings that have cameras and it is statistically highly unlikely that someone known will enter with a key and will leave with your luggage. Also, when the cleaning lady or manager or cable repair guy sees luggage on the floor he may wonder what is inside but if he sees cable anchor locked luggage he knows that there is something valuable inside. Ha ha. (joke).

BTW apartment doors in Kiev and the best I have seen anywhere in the world I have been to! They are made of solid metal. No one is kicking these suckers in.

I've never seen a safe in a Kiev apartment. I recommend locked luggage with a bike cable tied to the bedroom radiator. A roll of duck tape can be handy.

I would say 3 to 5, and not in her life, but at any given point in her life, and only until she loses her looks. And it is not only girls who have honest jobs; the mentality extends to women who do not have to work for a living. The official boyfriend / husband could even be some old, rich guy who provides the girl with a good life, but that does not stop her from getting little something on the side. They just have to be a little more discreet. Allow me to confirm that. My experience says that it is extremely difficult to have girls in Kiev to stay all night. For them, or the most of them, all night means maximal three hours. Sorry, Shooters is real bad the the other bars are not much better. Night Life in Kiev is now were it was in 2012. I am afraid you will be real disappointed. Kiev has changed dramatically especially in the girl department. I guess you will find out, but I would recommend Kiev as destination for girls any more, read some of the past post. Good Luck, the city is nice and safe, but the rest is not good. You need a lot of local knowledge and street game.
