Well, this "review" on Booking.com is the ONLY reference anywhere to grenades being used. If by some chance they were used I'd bet that they were only flash / bang or smoke grenades to hurry along the evacuation. There are literally dozens of reviews on either TripAdvisor, Travelocity and Expedia that are from that time frame but don't mention grenades.

Yes, they have always had their own strip joint and yes the girls are allowed up to your room. The doormen also have girls available. I was asked what kind of girl I wanted and I was shown a variety of pics to choose whom I wanted. Then they asked how long I wanted her for and what time to start.

I was never charged at all for bringing any girls up. They never mentioned if they were charged but if they were it came out of their money not mine.

Thanks, I actually called and was told it was open. Hopefully that is true but if not I can always hit other bars etc and like I reported before the doormen at Hotel Lybid can easily arrange ladies as well. My hottest one was arranged that way and she was cheaper than the dancers as well.

I did find that booking thru their website was MORE expensive due to them charging certain fees that the online sites like Expedia and Travelocity either don't allow or waive. I saved over $200 by booking elsewhere and I'm sure I'll end up spending that in the bar or on the dancers. So in my mind I saved $200 so the first two girls I bring back to the room are freebies LOL.

Hotel rooms in Kiev seem really cheap now. Maybe a better option than an apartment?

Volpone, Rammstein. Both of you bring up a good point. There is another way of looking at it. Are you saving money compared to your own country. Whichever that is? If you pay 100 Euro (Eu) in your own country and 100 Eu in Kiev then it is no save. If you get younger and more beautiful in Kiev compared to your city, then you can justify that as a save. But if it is money save, then it is best.

In Kiev, I usually try to pay 50-100 Eu for 2-4 hours, 100-150 Eu for all night, 10+ hours. But rarely do I get a 8-9 for that kind of money (sometimes, if I get lucky). Mostly I get girls who are 6-7 around 19-24 years. Rarely I have to pay more. Outside Kiev, it get cheaper and you get more beautiful girls. All these rates are for non agency girls - mamba, kreschatyk, vk etc. If you go to agency then you have to pay much more. For club like Rio. Go early before 10-11 pm, and negotiate for the girl to stay till 4-5 am. Ciao.

From what I could find out upon reading your post is that the former owner of the hotel was embezzling everything and took off with it all. I saw numerous reviews where people (groups and individuals) got charged again when they showed up at the hotel.

If anybody used sites like Expedia, Travelocity, TripAdvisor and etc I'm sure that they will get reimbursed but many got ripped off. Most sites would not let me book rooms now but some did. I guess it's all a matter of who owns the site and whether they trust new management etc.

If I stay in Kiev, I still plan on staying there if I can since I know it's affordable, I know I can get laid as many times as I want to and it is very convenient location too.

The Lybid hotel seems closed? At least you can't even book it on their official web page any more. Does anyone else have recommendations with not ultra-expensive hotels but still have a good bar with nice girls in it?

So, I have been here since Wednesday evening (about a day and a half) and I have not had any luck.
