I was wondering if someone could give me a quick rundown on what the best places to go in Kiev are. For chicks of course, pros and semi-pros alike.

Irish Lad, it does not say in your report if these places include the same amount of "service" (I. E. Drinks) for the minimum "spend" that you mention, or if they claim spenditure for drinks extra. In Avalon I recently paid 12 hundred for a small table and several drinks. If my girls, in addition to this, had not ordered several drinks for their friends too, I would have paid less than what I am used to pay at the bar. (Because I tend to practise generosity towards poor, young students!) But my head was still clear enough to register that I did not pay only for sitting down.

The minimum spend means that the "deposit" goes towards your bill. If the table is 4, 000 UAH and you buy only 2, 000 worth of drinks then you don't get the 2, 000 balance back. In fact, there will be a service charge added probably to the "deposit" as happened to myself a few weeks ago in D'Lux.

In your case, maybe the waitress "forgot" to include the deposit when giving you your bill. It should show a total and the deposit you paid.

Now, it gets confusing in Odessa. Same rules as above but on certain nights the clubs (Iiza and Itaka) might have a big act on so they charge for the seat and is not a deposit set off against your bill. That's on top of the entrance fee.

Almost all the clubs operate a "deposit system" whereby they charge you a minimum spend per table. It varies from club to club and from table to table within a club.

I think Decadance (Arena disco) is 1, 000 UAH per seat so the deposit for a table there is 4, 000/$500 for 4 people. Avalon is about $200-$300 for the booths and less for the smaller tables. D"lux goes from 4, 000 UAH for the upstairs table in the club, all the way to 8, 000 for a table beside the dance floor.

Vodka bar. The low end of the food chain charges 2, 000 for a table downstairs and 1, 200 for one upstairs. Go figure.

I paid 3,000 UAH for a table near the dance floor last Fall, that I split with 2 other guys at D'Lux. I think the only reason it was so cheap as it was a Thursday night perhaps.

I can not resist a remark here. So far as I know from other venues, you get a certain amount of drinks if you pay for a table. I don't know if you asked for this. And I don't know V-bar, but it is customary in many EE countries to ask the head waiter to put you to a table, or whatever you decide to do. He / she will also inform you about the prices. There must be a big downturn in trade at the moment. Most of these girls are students and stay until around 11:30 because the go to University at 12:00.
