You wrote Chernigov. It's not so far away from Kiev. About 2 hours in the bus. Not 4 hours. I did the tour 2 years ago. The bus starts near to the trainstation in the center. But there is another stop at the Lisova Metro. In the east of Kiew and at the other side of the river. That makes the trip much shorter and more comfortable.

If somebody told you about 4 hours in the bus, it must be a different city. Or you asked for the wrong bus. Anyway you must be sure that it's Chernigov und not Chernivtsi. Even booking.com made this mistake. When I tried to book my accomodation, I found some Chernivtsi Hotels in Chernigov. Guess they already fixed this problem )))

Let us say you go there, and she is no show. And all this time while you are riding a taxi there, and then wait for her (even if she shows up), and then go back to Kiev, you could have had multiple other girls in Kiev. You seem too paranoid. Kiev is just like another big city in Europe or anywhere else. If you survived in Rome, or San Francisco or Frankfurt, with basic reasonable precautions you'll be fine in Kiev. There are many apartment rental groups just google. I used to use uaapartments but its been a long while. Always get an apartment close to Kreshatik as it is easy for girls to come in by bus or metro. Baseina, Pushinska, Mala Zhitmoskaya, Michaelovska, Shota Rustevilli are are good central streets.

This is more about a different culture, and about setting expectations right.

When we were younger, and chased girls roughly our age, being stood up for the date might have been a big deal or not. Here these ladies in Kiev typically are much younger than us, and still they behave the same: "I do what I please, and no big deal, 'cause I'm beautiful and there's a lot of them boys trying to meet with me!" Yes. I agree with you. I may have saved my precious time in Kiev (which costs multiple hundred $ per day) by wasting just 150 $. At any rate, I avoided ruining a whole day or two in eating lunch with many girls, however beautiful they may look.
