First of all. It is super safe and you will never travel alone, there will be people in nearest cabins. I suggestion I always give. Never get drunk with people you don't know cause that's how most scams and thefts start.

I suggest you to do the trick I did several times. Buy all 4/2 sits in the cabin (you can buy all of them on your name, don't forget to cancel bed sheets and drinks for 3 places that will ve vacant, cause they are in the ticket by default and this will make you overpay a bit).

Don't fall for any international train booking sites which will charge you some fee. Always use https://booking.uz.gov.ua/en - this is government resource, its 100% trustworthy and save, has awesome interface and you simply need to save tickets to your smartphone (they will have QR code) which will be scanned by the lady in the train.

Ukrain trains are super cheap but not super comfortable though, I had one trip with my GF and we tried to have sex in the cabin -- not really good idea but may be fun to add it to your collection of unusual places for sex.

Ukrainian trains were very cheap and empty a few years ago. In the meantime, the cheap tickets are often sold out weeks in advance. Especially in the main season. Try to take the train from Lviv to Odessa in the next few days. There are no tickets or only first class tickets. And first class often costs $ 60 to $ 80. For one direction.

The third class on the sleeper train is not very comfortable. There are no doors and beds have even been installed in the corridors. No privacy. No security. The second class with four beds is much better. The beds below have a lockable box below the lying surface. Suitcases and rucksacks fit in there with no problem. Do not take a compartment near the toilets. People always go through there, there are noises and smells.

In Ukraine it is always worth looking for flight tickets. SkyUp, Wind Rose, Ukraine International. Often there are offers or discount codes. I just booked another flight from Kiev to Lviv today. In three weeks. For 11 dollars (300 UAH). Cheaper than a standard ticket on the express train. Always try to use a VPN network when booking a flight from abroad. Tickets are suddenly cheaper in Ukraine than from abroad.

Buying multiple tickets for one person and in one compartment is not permitted. You might not notice if the train isn't sold out. Or the conductor doesn't care. Or you have to pay the conductor a bribe. Otherwise the conductor may give your bed to someone else on a sold out train.

I have been to Ukraine back and forth for years and I believe your report is correct to the best of my knowledge. The pricing for ladies has steadily increased over the years and more so after EU granted Ukraine schengen access which resulted in ladies plying their trade wherever they believe they can make most money. Another reason is that apartments have gotten more expensive both to buy and to rent in Kiev and the cost of this has been passed inadvertently to end consumers- the Guys. On my recent visit last month one of the apartments near sofievskaya street near centre quoted me 1800 UAH / HR and had selection of 10 girls which got me all excited but 4 were trans, 2 were anorexic, 2 looked very sad and only 2 looked doable who were 6/10 and I'm very generous here. Fellows here is my experience of Kiev so far.

Arrived Sunday night. Took 2 hours at airport. Covid test, SIM card queue had 20-25 people. Stress. Airport taxi desk closed. My Uber and Bolt accounts stopped working. Stress. Took bus to center arrived to hotel after midnight. Went for walk pretty quiet in the Center. Went to bed.

Last October I took the overnight train from Lviv to Kyiv. Yes it's perfectly safe. Chances are you will have a room to yourself much of the trip so your door will be closed. For part of the trip you might have someone in the other bed. I just kept my backpack with valuables underneath the seat / bed I was sleeping on. Safety was not something I even thought about on the trip. Enjoy!

The overnight train just seems like such a great and cost effective solution, you get to visit another city, no need to pay for a hotel room, just take the late train and arrive in the morning ready to monger!

I've taken the overnight train 8 times over the last 8 years both with a girl and alone. I have stayed in both the 2 birth and 4 birth rooms. I Always felt safe. Not sure how much luggage you have, but if you are in a 2 birth room, there is space for a small bag beneeth your bed and also above the door.

I don't now why you couldn't book both beds in a 2 birth room. You would just have to pay for both.

The other problem could be noise if someone is drinking. Happens on cheaper trains after soccer / football games. Again, I never experienced that in more expensive suits.

Make sure you choose fast train. And in the end, Ukraine is not that large, you are not traveling through Siberia for days and weeks.
