I totally agree with you.

I always tell them I'm on vacation which in hindsight, is a stupid mistake. Girls think you're either a sex tourist or can't find a girlfriend back home. Telling them you're on a business trip shows that at least you have the means or somesort successful ($$$$$$).

So I thought about lying to them but didn't think I could pull it off. I didn't bring a briefcase or a suit when I "vacationed" in Russia.

I'm still trying to figure out what to say to girls (both on the internet before I depart and arrived in motherland).

Just to show how important it is for girls why we're in Russia, I've been chatting with girls online. And the first thing they ask me is usually "why do you want to visit our country?"

They want to hear you have business there (means you'll be around more). Not you love their culture and pizda.

Now the key is to figure out how to lie for us real vacationers :-(

I would really prefer not have to bring a briefcase, business suit, tie and dress shoes when I "vacation" in Russia :-( And most business travelers stay at hotels but I stay at apartments to save money- another givaway.

Any advice from more experienced mongers?

Lukasek and I have been pondering the question of the other discos beyond the Arkadia standards Itaka and Ibiza, which are clearly the most popular places.

In the link posted by VV (thanks for the research), there is a list of the numerous other discos ar Arkadia or in town... why are they not mentioned by other members often or at all? Are they that bad? Or are they a chance to get away from the glam club Ibiza and the central party semi-glam disco Itaka for less-foreigner spoiled girls?

What about other Arkadia clubs like Assol? And why in the hell did they name a club "bunghole"? Do I really have to tell a girl "I want to go to assol with you?" And what if she says yes, should I get out the lube?

In my experience, most discos in Odessa city are closed in the summer when the beach clubs open. Are there however some in city happening places? What about Palladium, Yeyo or Captain Morgan? Vechernaya Odessa?
Or are these places really all dead in the summer?

Just curious if anybody has had any luck anywhere in the summer besides Itaka and Ibiza... which are absolute "must sees" for the Odessa traveller.

My experience a few weeks ago, was the cab fare going out to Arkadia beach was 20-30 hrivnas ($4-6). Return at 5 am was about 10 hrivnas ($2) more. There's lots of cabs waiting at the entrance to the beach clubs at all hours. The crowd shows up around 1 am.

Entrance to the club runs about 60 hrivnas ($12) if you get a table. If not I think it was half that.

this is an interesting conversation and given my polish background i think i can make a contribution. i grew up in a fairly traditional polish family which is closely aligned with russians/ukrainians. all slavic relationships with women are strikingly different from those in the west. along with pleasure, i think any creative way of meeting a girl is effective. i do not mean to brag, but the girls we picked up in odessa were unbelievable and we got them only because we walked in like we had nothing to lose and just went for it.

from numerous trips to budapest, bulgaria and prague the main thing with these chicks is that you are expected to make contact. they are taught from a very young age that a man is a hunter and if you look at a man to seduce him you are perceived as a *****. be confident, go after what you want and always think about the fact that you have nothing to lose and everyone is out just having a good time anyway.

the other often overlooked item is the dress code. if you want to get an idea of odessa's nightlife i found a page which i posted a couple of posts ago. if you do not dress well in ee when going out you will be starting out handicapped. i always dress well but when going on trip i usually buy a bunch of modern, european design shirts, etc and make sure the clothes do not look shabby or not ironed. the first thing a girl will go by when seeing you is what you are wearing. this is a huge factor when it comes to her deciding to talk to you or not, regardless of how you initiate contact. it is also fairly easy in these places to create the illusion of you having money, whether you have it or not. like asking a girl to sit down with you and have a bottle of champagne with you. they are totally not used to local guys doing that since not so many can afford it. plus, they don't have to do that to get dyevs anyway so this is another very effective way for pickups. the worst thing is she'll drink champagne and walk away but the damage is no more than $20 - $30 per bottle (make sure to get the cheap one). at home two martinis go for about the same price so wasting a bottle is not a worry but the reality is that this will work most of the time. even if the girl declines, she will do it very politely in this instance will still remember you if you run into her again. when we were in varna, we were running into the same chicks every night. same thing in odessa., even if nothing happens with her that night, if you run into her again you can start a conversation almost like you know each other.

finally, there was mentioning already of the best defense for “what are you doing in odessa?” question which inevitably will come up. i agree, if you say you are on vacation, as a single male you will always be placed in sex tourist / wife searching category. which is not who a typical 19 year old beauty wants to spend time with. however, if you say you are on business this of course improves you odds. yet, i think most girls in ee are not as stupid as we think, especially i would imagine in a port city like odessa no one will be impressed with ‘business man in real estate’ speech. i like to take this a bit further, which is another benefit of renting private apartments when you can simply say you are in odessa on business, you do business in odessa often and you own the flat in which you are staying. since most of the apartments for rent in any ee city are quiet nice, once the girl sees your apartment she will be further impressed that you own real estate there and spend a lot of time in her city. this solidifies you as a ‘potential sponsor’. i do realize it is not exactly ethical to lie your ass off in such straightforward fashion but this is an extremely effective way to lay any ee chic on the first night. when we were in odessa, we rented a very nice apartment with a sauna inside. i mentioned that i own the place and it was all over. any doubt over whether the girl would sleep with me or not would vaporize with that statement. since the apartment was without any indication of being a rental unit, i simply had to explain the lack of much of personal items inside and mentioned that i have the apartment service i used to manage the place for me but it is the one where i always stay when there on business and can easily move there full time since it’s my own. this technique, if you can call it then of course can backfire in instances such as where the place is clearly owned by someone else, or the girl has already been there with another dude. the odds of the latter are low and given the risk/reward benefit ratio in this case i think it is worth it. anyway, even she has been there with another dude you could always claim that the apartment rental service simply rents it out and manages the place when you are away.

also, can anyone post personal recommendations for which beaches are the best when i odessa? i have found only one page with fairly detailed information on beaches

Just a comment on getting numbers of pros off of the dating sites like destiny.com.ua or love.mail.ru (which both are actually the same website BTW), I personally find it is best to do the research and getting phone numbers no more than 10 days before your trip. Numbers, girls etc. change fairly quickly... if you collect numbers 3 months before your trip you cannot expect any of the numbers to still be in use when you arrive. Of course many of the girls are working for agencies as well, which you can determine by their automated response.

In terms of freebies I also find it best to not start too early. In my experience, their interest peaks 2-3 days after initial contact (sometimes earlier) and if your trip is still weeks off, it is hard to keep them interested for long, especially considering they probably get 100 guys writing them everyday, at least while their profile is "fresh".

I always say "property business". It's short, self explanatory and says enough. If they ask more, then I express my belief that the Ukraine will do very well in the future. That certainly always opens the door for continued conversation. I am often disagreed with but I find that then I get to shut up for 5 minutes while they tell me why it won't.

Either way it presents yourself as an optimistic guy who plans for the future.

I always say I am there on business. It avoids the "sex tourist" perception, the "looking for a wife as I can't find one at home" stigma and is as safe an answer as you can get.

It also sets you up as a man of means and a good fish to catch.
