I don't know how long is the ride from the airport. The ride from Odessa was long as hell. Not that the roads are bad, it's the kind of driving they do on the one lane highway and the amount of time it would take emergency personnel to attend an accident scene is scary.

Bring your own bit-ch?
It's always about p4p (pay 4 play). Intstead of giving money directly you are the candyman - X, coke, whatever. If it's BYOB your still paying for everything - lodging, fees, food, bubble gum.
It's always about the p4p.
How far it is from Simferopol? Last time I was there it was a 200uah taxi ride from Sevastopol to Simferopol airport - that was one long ride. Of course a lot shorter then Kiev-Mariuopol-Sevastopol.

yes, roads are not so good, but i saw something worse for example in romania and moldova. road in august are busy because everybody want to go to krim, especially the south.
cars are especially from ucraine, russia, belarus...i didn't see wstern plates.
but anyway you can easily drive at an average speed of 80 km/hour.
and believe me, that's is not possible in romania or moldova.
problem are placat, it's easy to misunderstand them and to loose direction.
yes, if i am not wrong, there is an airport in simferopol, and then eupatiroe is near.
sean, what does it mean byob?

Hi Hakan,
just go to their web site kazantip.com for up to date information. I have been ther in 2005, when prices were reasonable, but now it is a very expensive commercialized venue, spoilt by rich Russians from Moscow. Dont they spoil everything? (prices for apartments, girls)

Posts: 1381That complex is a hoot. Did you ever get a chance to go into the other buildings? The labs and workshops look exactly the same when the place was abdandoned when the Soviet Union broke up.
They did/are doing a nice job with the Mall conversion. Lot of renter turnover tho.

Thanks for the advice. I'm already tied into the Balaclava scene. Love the area. The semi abandoned naval bases are a hoot.
Is the Poseidon Mall the place inside the old Soviet R&D complex? The one with the skating rink inside? I think Sevastopol is a very under developed city with a lot of potential.
As far as the club table prices go. I know what you are saying but I didn't set the prices. I'll probably start splitting my time in Ukraine between Kiev and Sevastopol.

You might be right, perhaps I’ve been here too long and my vision of reality is wrong. The point I have tried to make is $100 is a months earnings for many of the locals, (monthly overheads on 2 large apartments I pay for here run at a similar amount to $100(this would include gas, electric, water, security systems, services charge, cable tv, management fees and probably other bits and pieces what I have forgotten)). In this perspective you are talking big money for the locals, but compared to USA and Europe obviously not.
You might want to try some of the clubs/bars at Omega beach or Park Pabida (ïîáåäû)? Next time you are here in summer or alternatively the bars/clubs at Balaclava are very busy (upmarket, much Russian money here, but be very careful who you upset here).
Never been to Zeppelin but their ads are all over town, mile 44 (umashava) is good there is also a new club on the same block called ?45 (I think) also at Umashava there’s bar called Omega Bar which is very popular with the younger locals Friday/Saturday (all nights during summer). If you’re in need of some European type food in this area you have a new bar in the Poseidon shopping mall on the 2nd floor, take the elevator, turn left at the top walk into the kids amusement place and it’s directly on the right good women, Russian billiards and very good pool tables. The Playboy Club which you have previously mention is located within a 5 minute walk from The Yard Hotel on Êàìûñîâàÿ óï (fuck knows how you pronounce this one) might just have a look this weekend.
Easter soon which signals the start of the season here can hardly wait!

Hotel Yalta is good place to stay, not the best hotel intown, but reasonable prices. They even have web site.
But in June no problem to find an appartment "on the spot". Different story in July/August.
Lot of advertisements on the roads to Yalta; many possibilities to book an appartment on the spot with the people at the central bus station in Yalta. Less commission to pay for the agents in the park besides "Hotel Oreander" (that is one of the best in town, NOT Hotel Yalta !). In Oreander top class pros, 200$+/h.
Depending upon how long you want to stay, the first 2-3 days in Hotel Yalta make a lot of sense, and then look for yourself in the city.
One hint: Do not go to the private beach of hotel Yalta. This beach is only for hotel guests, so you will miss the contact with the "simple female, local tourist".
Just go to the beach in front of Hotel Oreander; about 3km walk. There you will see the "Local Beauties". There are also the cheap bars/discos in the evening.
And the beach ist the best place for hunting, anyway.
Good luck.
